You play as yourself in a survival scenario. Can you survive the night?

Band of Misfits

When a prince loses everything and held captive by bandits who view him as more coin in their purse, who can he turn to?

---

This is my first story here. I have a few other large projects I'm working on, however I hope this can get my name out and provide some entertainment too!

This won't have an endless amount of choices, but each will impact the story and how it ends for the prominent characters. Enjoy!

--

Some stories I'm converting into story games:

Same Blood: A story of two soldiers, one American, one German, in the midst of WWII.

The 10th Eillod: In Mbzark, a recently conquered and oppressed kingdom, a vengeful bastard and a deserter try to create an army to change the tides.

The Collector: A man loses his family in an attempt to escape a zombie apocalypse. Depressed and hopeless, the man collects licenses from those who had fallen in this new world on a journey down the East Coast of the U.S.A.

Kate: Two rival families in a mid-western town in the U.S vie for control over the county. When Ryan is kidnapped by his rivals, he meets Kate, the kind and sympathetic one in the family, the two try to escape the criminal life forced upon them.

Alright then. I figured Alex doesn't have to be the ONLY person to do it, but essentially if he wouldn't want it that is acceptable. I know if I had any clue how to do it, I'd do it myself just to help out, voluntarily.. But I don't know how. :P Other than Choice of Games, I haven't seen or been aware of any other places with story games. Figured it was at least worth a mention just in case it hasn't crossed any minds. Never mind then.

Let me start by saying, if it wasn't for ChoiceofGames.com, I would not be here. I found Choiceofgames from an ad on another website, advertising one of their story games. I followed it out of interest and played the entire story before realizing I needed to pay to finish it. I was extremely disappointed, as I don't read. I dislike it, as I'd much rather watch a movie than read a book. However, these interactive stories were something special, they got my attention because I had a choice in how the story played.

So after realizing everything on Choiceofgames cost money, I scoured the internet in search of more of these games. Surprise, Chooseyourstory.com. The site had stories 10 times better, and more fun to play than that of its "rival". But what made this site far better in my eyes, was that anybody could just hop on, make a story, and it's there. A lot of creative people write. However, Choiceofgames doesn't allow just any game on their site to enjoy, and those very few sacred stories you can enjoy come at a cost.

I rambled on a little bit there, but my main point is this: This site surpasses its counterpart at immense lengths, and I think it would be tremendous to see the most popular, and best written storygames to be put into a format for everyone to enjoy. Let mobile users read these stories such as the Homo Perfectus series, Ground Zero, The Order of the Midnight Sun, and several others.

I am not a programmer. I have not the first clue of building an app, but I imagine there are people on and loyal to this site who could create these stories in an app form. Include an ad at the bottom or top of the screen, and make the apps free, so everyone interested can enjoy. Just a personal preference of mine. I know for a fact I would love to download some of these stories and read/play them when I am out and away from my computer... And perhaps some of my own one day as well? :P

If it's possible, I believe it's something worth considering, or if not attempting. This community, and especially many of these stories, are too special in my eyes to just be limited to this site. I think there's a lot of potential with some of these stories.

Let me know what you think. :)

What is a 'Freeform RP'? on 9/4/2015 9:58:00 PM

Yeah I've noticed a lot of Warrior Cats stories and posts. As far as Planet of the Cats, I was referencing Planet of the Apes. Just a joke though, no intentions of cat stories. Thank you!

I'm actually extremely relieved :) thank you very much! I'm working on one story now involving sword fighting so it will be bloody, and a reference of sex, but I won't be getting descriptive about it. And probably cursing as well. Does that sound like it may be too much? I can make it less specific of course.

I take it people aren't too fond of cats around here? I almost finished a story called Planet of the Cats, but I guess I could change it to Monkeys or something.

Alright, sorry about the confusion haha. I thought they were referring the storygames as roleplaying, so I was kind of confused as to why they'd rid the all of these great stories on here, that essentially would need to be created in the Advanced format to fit the criteria they wanted on the site. I've spent all day trying to figure out how I can rework the projects I have to fit in with having skills and using dice to create randomized outcomes, while still following the story through choices made.

So other than keeping away from too much intimate and sexual scenes, the bulk of the message about changing the site is targeted at the forum?

Oh, ok I understand now. So why is it that the admins are restricting and trying to rid the site of freeform stories? In my opinion, if it is a good story, with a good plot, etc, and is a good read, that should be all that matters. As long as it includes story-changing decision-making, of course.

How Many Pages per Day? on 9/4/2015 3:16:21 PM

I do it differently than most I presume. I get 15-20 pages an hour if I know the flow of my story and it's choices. I summarize each page first through the entirety of the story from beginning to every end. Then I'll go back and fix it up, making it look pretty. And since I know what each page will contain, it takes only a few minutes per page to spice it up and ready to read. However, I am far less active than most on the site creating stories.

What exactly is a freeform RP? The new rules state freeform RPs are not allowed. Now what exactly does that mean? From what I gathered it is a story that has a wide range of directions the story can go. And a structured would be a story that really only has one direction it can go in. Is that correct?
