The King's Logic Puzzle

The king has proposed a contest of intellect. You have a balance scale and twelve identical looking spheres of gold - except that one is either heavier or lighter than all the rest. Using the scale and only 3 measurements, you must determine which is the 'odd ball' and whether it is lighter or heavier. If you fail, you get to be court jester for a month. The king has a terrible sense of humor - trust me; you don't want to be court jester (even for just a month). It's part of the reason he holds this contest. It's the only way he can get anyone to 'sign-up' for the job. If you can correctly guess the 'odd ball,' but not whether it's lighter or heavier than all the others, you get to go free. But if you can get the right ball AND figure out whether it's lighter or heavier - you get to keep all twelve spheres of gold. They're worth a small fortune - enough to buy your own keep - which would raise you up from lowly Surf to rich Landowner in the blink of an eye. What do you have to lose - except your dignity...

The following is a 'How To It Guide,' for building a Five Pin Pass Code into your game for the purpose of pass-coding Unlockables, Game Sequels, or the like.

I checked it out and it's a decent start, but really far too short to really assess right now. The writing seems solid (except no space after your periods for some reason in a few instances). Again, much too short to give the story itself any real feedback, but I do like Pokemon (especial the original 150), so I'd be interested in seeing where the story went. If you want to open it to anyone to give a look through, you'll want to post the link to the story game here. Or you could PM the link to those that volunteer to help proof it. Your choice. Don't be discouraged if it takes a day or two or folks to see and reply to this thread though. As it's via forum, responses can take time. Good luck - and let me know when you have the story up to the first battle and I'll check it out again =)

Hmm, sounds like a worthwile thing to try out. You may come up with a system that others will want to use in their games too. Just watch out for making it too complicated, like I did with Zombie City haha!

Hi and welcome =) Publishing any part of an unfinished story is not the best way to get an idea of how good it is. There is a general loathing around here of demos and unfinished work and it will get hammered in the ratings, regardless of potential. I highly recommend not publishing any unfinished work at all. If you want feedback though, then make sure your game has Sneak Preview enabled (it’s the default setting) and then ask some of the folks in the writing forum to check it out. Most are happy to do a read through and give you a critique with helpful advice and that way you won’t get a bunch low ratings for having an unfinished story published. Good luck with your projects =)

Did you? (People must really skim through the Endings haha!) But yes, Aman's vile Mustache is a disporic nuesance of immense power - but it is limited by the very secrets it keeps. Though to be honest, I may have inadvertantly given it even more power recently, by providing yet another secret for it to withhold hehehe....

Then there is hope for you yet ^-^

I still would like to see this happen, but it has sort of gotten set aside for one reason or another - mostly we have not come to a consensus about the format of the contest. Curious though - as this is a game writing site, do you think the contest should involve writing an actual game? Or simpler (and quicker) by writing a smaller piece, like a humorous run-on sentance, an outline to a game, the most interesting protagonist, etc... ???

What about Frogs? Where do they fall in? Enquireing minds want to know...
