Am I able to join in this game?
Oh yes, yes, yes! I've even got my new religion all planned out.
I would like to RSVP. Also what kind of gameplay changes have you made?
I'll RSVP.
Questions:
- What are the serious changes? Is the way research done different? Is there wood now? Do we still have farmers/artisans/philosophers/warriors or is there fewer/more/different types of people?
- What style map will you use? The original continent where we saw everything, NC continent where we had to find everything, or are you going to do a new method?
- Does performance in the previous games simply refer to those who played properly, or are you actually going to prioritize those who ended up doing well over those who did poorly? (Not that important I'll admit, but I am curious)
- Who is the fourth person?
Interesting. I like how important terrain tiles seems to be now.
As deities, will we have any way to influence the world, apart from controlling our own civilizations?
I'm interested in playing this.
ORES Amber Gemstone Silver Sand=Glass PLANTS Bananas Wheat EXPANSION Ivory Incense Dyes Pearl Wine
Have you considered adding Hops or Barley to the plants list for alcohol exports or tobacco for, well, tobacco exports? Those might be under expansion though.
For the animals, do you think you would create breeds that are more suited to a specific area? Like horses that are slower but have better footing for the mountains?
Also, how about Camels under the animals section?
Chickens live near me... but then again I live in Alabama :)
Out of curiosity, why would someone want to start in the desert? The only upside I see to that is being able to move faster in the desert since you're native to it, but that doesn't seem to be worth the hit to resources or fertility (unless near rivers which I assume are rare in the desert).
Do deserts have rarer resources to offset their disadvantage, or is it just for people who want to play hard-mode? Or is sand just really really awesome?
Also, are Green Star animals more for luxury trade/food while the Teal ones are for productive roles (such as riding or using in battle)?
Hey 3J, if we are all progressing at different times from one another, how will we go to war with one another?
Also, how will Nation X look to Nation Y when Nation X decided to move forward an entire generation while Nation Y only wanted to move forward another decade? Will Nation Y see Nation X's nation as how it would be ten years later, or the whole generation later? It seems like a lot of work that way.
I would like to try. It might take me a bit to get used to it so I will probably start off a bit slow, but once I figure out what I'm doing I'll pick up my pace. I pretty much Followed neo continent to where it is now reading about people playing. which is kind of sad now that I think about it... But yeah, I would love to play. Just can't promise that I'd start out knowing what I'm doing. Also, I don't know if you're still looking for resources, (Guess not since you said you already placed them all on the map) but would Corn (or maze) work for plants? And Cocoa for expansion?
Would you consider Indigo as an expansion resource or Rice as a plant/expansion resource?
Ivory*
Of course you would need to have animals like elephants in reserve before you could get it, if you want to impliment it in the first place.
Just to clear something up regarding the simulator, will there still be the General, Artisan, Warrior, and Philosopher units like there were in continent, with the only difference being that we can't appoint them? Or will there be a whole new assortment of units for us to have?
Okay so I was looking at the spreedsheet and I have a question. Under City Overview what does priority mean? I probably should already know what it means sense I played NC, but I didn't have a lot of time to familiarize with it before it paused. Sorry if this is a bad question (even though according to my pre-k teacher there are no bad questions!). I was just curious :).
I'm guessing it means how much of the new population to become that type. It didn't exist in NC or OC.
Well, 3J was talking about how we wouldn't micromanage, olny give directions, so I would guess "priority" would mean the general direction you would want your city to move in, as in my priority might be on research.
Nevermind, I just noticed they're numbered. The only guess I would have now is how much of a priority each city is to you.
I'll be honest, I was a little intimidated by this game when I first saw it but I guess I'm willing to give it a try.
How close is really close?
And don't answer with "really close".
So, what kind of crops did you all choose? I'm assuming wheat for most people, but you got to pick two so I wonder what everyone choose as a second.
I'd prefer to wait until I know that everyone has already given their two plants before I say what I will be growing. I don't want someone growing the same plants as me and causing unnecessary competition early on. So my products shall remain a mystery for now, sorry. However, since you don't seem worried about that, I would love to hear what you will be putting up on the market when we meet.
Well odds are many people are going to have the same plants to some extent (for example I'm guessing a few will have wheat, as it's a staple food for humans). We'll be close, but for the first while I'm sure everyone will have to be self-sufficient.
I was actually thinking the reverse. If everyone states what their choosing early on, then some people can choose different crops so they don't over-lap. If no one says anything, we might all get the same things, thus giving us no advantage in having that.
Then again most people already have their crops by now (You and I at least have choosen), so telling our crops now would give an advantage to players such as Bo who could choose their crops based on ours.
I assumed everyone had already choosen (since it doesn't take too long to make that kind of decision), so I guess I'll wait till the game starts to say what I have.
I understand your thinking the reverse of my claims. But my position is this: I am an unknown in this game. You all have played together before and have built up some trust and knowledge of each other. If I give up my crops, then someone could easily take them and have more of a chance to sell to everyone since I don't have that built up trust. I don't want to risk having competition between myself and someone who is better known. So I might be being a bit too protective of myself, but I believe keeping quiet is the best course of action for me. I'll also gladly announce what I have when the game begins.
Honestly I think in the scenario of you vs someone better know, whoever sells for cheaper will probably win either way.
Unless its a marginal difference and someone who I trust a good deal. But yeah, I can see where you're coming from.
Two plants? There's nothing in my inbox about two plants, and I'm fairly sure there's nothing in the thread about it. Well, nothing in the original post to be sure, I'll re-read
Nope, nothing. Must be something yuo get with the CP/map, I don't have that yet.
3J sent out messages (I'm assuming to everyone) Asking what crops their farmers would grow. They got to choose two. I'm guessing that since you didn't get this message he forgot to send it to you or something. Maybe in the place you chose you don't have the luxury of choosing crops? I don't have the CP or map yet, but I got the message asking what they are growing. Meaning it's probably going to be present in our first CP. It might be a good idea to Message 3J asking him about it or something.
He might have just forgotten you, or only sent out some PMs before becoming pre-occupied. But no, you don't get it with the map or CP. Well, it should be on the CP, but you'll choose it before you see the CP.
If I were you I'd select my two crops and either send them to JJJ right now or just wait for the PM.
Ouch, poor Bo.
Then I guess you and Bo took the desert positions lol.
That's what I thought at first too.
Maybe only the plains get to pick what they grow seeing as you can grow lots of different crops in that type of terrain.
There are only two plain spots and three people were able to decide what they wanted to grow...
I can confirm this. I am not in the plains and I can grow crops.
