This thread is officially announcing the beginning for signups for the new forum game "Lost Saga" in which players choose a class and then join a group of 5 - 7 other players in the battle against the mysterious and tyrannical "Master."

Throughout the game you and your group must prepare accordingly for the impending final battle with the Master, who gained his name through mastery of all skills; magic, combat, and stealth. To prepare, you and your party must accept jobs from the local townsfolk to gather objects, slay beasts, or clear dungeons. Quests will be marked according to difficulty and loot and gold drops scale according to difficulty as does experience. Party size also causes difficulty to scale. Two last things, to learn what the classes are, visit the coming soon thread posted before, and just because you have a party doesn't mean you have to stick around. 

If you choose to join, send me a PM containing the class you want as well as your character's race, age, and any pertaining backstory that may be associated with your character. 

One last thing: This game is heavily story based, so just because YOU think your character is weak/strong doesn't mean that a chance plot device might kick in (for either side) at the right moment.

Last thing I swear: Never forget when playing to have fun!

The game starts after 8 people have joined or tomorrow evening. Whichever occurs first.

I don't really have to choose yet, but I'm leaning towards destruction.

If no one else is a restoration mage or another mage that can restore, I might be one though.

I'll leave the choice up to you once you respond to me.

Based on my background it's looking like I'm a destruction mage.

How exactly will the game run?

You are all hired as mercenaries to clear out the same dungeon for a noble and after that you guys kinda just stuck around with each other as a merc company. The game relies heavily on story, puzzle solving, and player ingenuity to mold itself into a mass storygame that will be built upon the framework that I create. The ultimate goal of the game is to end the tyranny of the "Master," an autocrat by nature who destroys entire villages for the mere thought and is is responsible for other evil douchebaggery that really chafes people. Keep in mind that you have to defeat the master eventually. Also, pray you're lucky. Luck plays a big role in this game, so take note when good things happen. What goes around comes around they say.

I meant more along the lines of how will we be conversing? I mean will all of this mainly be happening in a thread? Will it happen in PMs as well? Will you point us to an external site for some parts of it.

Do we do this in turns, or segments, or is it one continuous thing?

Just a thought, but should we maybe make alternate logins with our character names? I assume that's not verboten, if we don't proceed to duel a scissors streak with ourselves... ;)

Not necessary. Character conflicts will arise and they may require violence, but rest assured that I will provide when the need arises.

Ah, no, I just meant alternate logins so we can keep track of who's supposed to be who. Also so I can use this character portrait I just made. :D

Usually we refer to our characters in the third person with us narrating their thoughts and actions.

That is what we do with Mafia, I prefer it over the other personally.

Anyways, she just did refer to her character in the third person, so they're both saying we should do it the same way lol (apart from the whole new account part). I don't think we need to create a whole new profile for them, unless enough people disagree with me.

Yeah, maybe I'm taking this too seriously. I just wanted my character to be her half-elfy self -- without having to look like an elf, myself. ;)

Depending on how this goes, I might host my own in a setting I've been working on for a while now. I've only been seriously working on it the last few days.

I almost decided to sign up but opted against it when I thought about all the stuff I'm trying to do.

Pretty diverse group I think. If you add stats, in total we are:

5 Strength
4 Stealth

I don't even want in anymore, if he's going to lie about who signed up and who didn't, I don't think I would trust him as a GM.

Sure, I didn't elaborate too much on my character and if you consider that enough to not let me in the game fine (I was going to expand on his character history too btw) , but if you're going to lie about it and never respond to my message then me and you are going to have a problem.

Hello world my name is Nick Caraway.

You may be wondering what makes me special well other then being a good looking 23 year old with Black hair and red eyes. Oh that let me get to that in a sec. 6ft1in is my height weight is a healthy 235lbs.

So about the red eyes, that is a gift from my father. You see my father is the demon Beelzebub (Aka Beal) Of course I didn't know this until I was 12 and I slowly became more aware of the shadows. Turns out dear old dad seduced my mom the night after her wedding disguising himself as her husband.That is when I was conceived my mom always thinking it was her husbands child. Surprise not only do I look almost nothing like my stepfather but I had dull red eyes. This led to me having a very lonely childhood. Luckily my family was of some wealth so I knew how to read and that was how I escaped the humiliation of being a bastard.

That was in till I was 12. Then the shadows started speaking to me. I could feel there embrace and loved it. That is when my actual father in all his 8ft Glory stepped in. It was an interesting development in the least and he showed me how to use the shadows to my advantage. Suddenly I wasn't alone I had an entire world to explore and it felt wonderful.

At 18 I had learned all I needed to; to survive in this harsh reality and my dad left. Then I had to determine what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. That is when I went back to my childhood acting like a hero in one of my books and that is when I decided I wanted to do with my life. I would be the Half-Demon hero saving damsels and slaying dragons. I use my control over the shadows to further my cause and continue making the world a better place.

So that's me in a nutshell. Dashing hero with charm and an unfortunate card in life. I will see you all soon on the front lines fighting for good.

My intro is more third person but here it goes

Character: Ner'Xul ShadeHet. 
Race: Dwarf-Orc mix(if not stick to normal orc) 
Age:(Not sure how long a dwarf lives, 600-800? Ner'Xul can only live to 400 but can use magic unlike other dwarfs, hopefully this gives him an unexpected advantage in combat.) 

Backround: Ner'Xul is the bastard son of a dwarf-orc mix, how such a think came about? Well before he was cast out of his clan some of the storys said that his mother was so desperate for something to satisfy her after her husbands death she went out looking for a traveling halfing or gnome... 

She meet a orc warband, they captured, tortured and generally made life miserable for her. Then two nights later a drunk orc wandered over and started raping her. simple enough she was pregnat(spelling?) in the morning and that was the day they decided to release her. She had gotten her wish. 

Once Ner'Xul was born he learned how to survive outside the caves and has limited knowledge about the dwarf clans and the dwarf''s themselves. He is very strong but tends to stick to his limited magic ability. He decided to go with restoration magic since he never liked fighting unless it was to survive. 

Now he is of the age 173 and is ready to make his own way in the world. He heads out to the nearest town with his Orc waraxe and (however much starting gold.)

I sent him a message about two days ago, but I guess I'm not getting in :P I was gonna be a fighter with part rogue, since I saw that he was talking about mixing classes earlier.

Having a 24 hour quarantine to ensure no more confusion or mistakes due to sleep deprivation. It will start tomorrow, so don't worry.

And I'm assuming I can't add anything to my back story that includes a drink my father gave me that makes me immune to death? Not that I would want to anyway.

If you did it would have to make you really weak and you'd "die" often. It could become a reoccurring joke that you "die" at the end of every fight lol.

Ummm... if a player quits the game mid-session (not dying, i don't like replacing dead dudes), can a demon rogue walk by and ask in?  (Don't worry, he only does distracting things, like firebombs, etc.)
