Had a low score on Ducky Park where the comment said something like "I'd rate it a 0 if the scale would allow it."

So I messaged the person in question, asking for feedback. Their response was that it was inappropriate; "imagine a 7 year old reading it...." and then they went on to say that they were aware the story starts with a warning about age restriction and maturity level.

So if it starts with that kind of warning, and you chose to read it... How the hell is that going to be the reason you rated it low?

If you don't like the story, you don't like the story. I get that. Maybe the characters were annoying, maybe you didn't like the choices, or felt I was overly descriptive... But rating it low because of the mature content... even though it's clearly labeled as having mature content is just plain bullshit IMO.

It's like rating a porn low for having nudity or an action movie low for having violence. What the hell?

We all get low ratings for ridiculous reasons and stupid / nonsensical comments.

Yeah like apparently my games have "shitty writing" and are "not funny". I mean they're right, but rude.

... And some of us get low ratings for perfectly valid reasons. :P

Yeah for sure. I'm no stranger to it. I've written way more stories than just the two on here.

It's just... I go to pains to ensure that people sensitive to vulgarity and graphic content are made aware that (most of) my stories contain exactly that.

It's like: I want ice cubes but I hate that they're cold.

Anyway, I just needed to bitch a little.

Yeah, I've had a few angry comments from people telling me not to use swear words in my games. Considering the maturity rating states that it's not suitable for anyone under 16, I'm not sure what they were expecting.

Some people are dumbfucks. But as long there are more positive feedbacks or ratings, it doesn't matter much.

I wonder if they get mad when they go to the store and buy skim milk and don't like that it doesn't taste like 2% later at home...

Whenever you get a comment like that, consider that these are still the more intelligent than average people on the internet, who read for fun.

That's especially annoying because Ducky Park is the kind of storygame that wouldn't work without the mature humour. It's not just 'inappropriateness' for the sake of it, it's an integral part of the writing and storytelling style that you use.

Thank you. Yes, I agree. It wouldn't even make sense without the vulgarity.
