I'm not aware of any turn based stratgey games, sorry. The ones I play are spelled a little differently.

I don't think there's anything like Xcom. Have you tried Rainbow Six?  It's not turn based, but there is strategy to it. There's also some other Tom Clancy games like Endwar. Again, not turn based, but it could give  you your fix (or be a great disappointment).

Shining Force is a PC game that's turn-based strategy. It's not sci-fi though. There's also anything in the Total War series (keep in mind that the battles are live, only the map is turn based).

Most of the good ones are 4X, but if you want a really great old one, there's Jagged Alliance 2 which also has some mod support.

The newer Shadowrun games are RPGs, but their combat is turn based tactics.

Those X-COM 2 load screens right? Playing X-Com also doubles as an opportunity to read comics for me.

I'm afraid I don't know of any other turn-based squad-tactics strategy games. I wish that I could be more helpful.

Sure thing boss.

-Invisible, Inc. (Corporate Espionage turn based action.) https://www.gog.com/game/invisible_inc

-Massive Chalice (Can get it in humble now, but regardless if you do or don't, grab it on a discount.) https://www.gog.com/game/massive_chalice (HumbleBundle Link: https://www.humblebundle.com/day-of-the-devs-2016 )

-Skulls of The Shogun (Fun little game, not grid based like X-Com, but is Turn Based.) https://www.gog.com/game/skulls_of_the_shogun

-Valkyria Chronicles (World War Turn Based fun. Not a huge fan of the story tho. Bit too cringe. But gameplay is solid.) http://store.steampowered.com/app/294860/

-Shadowrun: Returns/ Shadowrun: Dragonfall/ Shadowrun: Hong Kong (RPG focus, contains Turn Based combat. Cyberpunk goodness.) https://www.gog.com/game/shadowrun_returns

-Fire Emblem Series (POISON IN HIS MUTTON. Seriously tho, my favorite game series, exceptional turn based combat (technically is an SRPG, but I think it's the kind of stuff you'd be looking for. Also has 14 games in series, so it's bound to keep you busy!). Recommend starting with FE 7 on the GameBoy Advance. Recommend using emulator, but can be bought and played on WiiU store (or so I've heard...).) (Sorry, don't think I'm allowed to link ROMs. Quick Google search should show off some gameplay)

-Banner Saga (Never played myself, but heard good things.) https://www.gog.com/game/the_banner_saga

-Xenonauts (Literally a fan made old-school X-Com.) https://www.gog.com/game/xenonauts

-Fallout 1/2/Tactics (More emphasis on RPG. Tactics however has you controlling a custom squad in isometric real-time or turn based combat.) https://www.gog.com/game/fallout

-Advance Wars (Not very knowledgeable about this series (only played a bit of the first game), but I hear good things about it. One of the greatest SRPGs around.)

-Original X-Coms! :) https://www.gog.com/game/xcom_ufo_defense

If you want more let me know.

Fire Emblem 7 (for the GBA) is an excellent start. Has an extensive tutorial and a very decent story and characters. It's also my favorite looking game in the series.

As long as you have a computer, you can emulate it.

Just download a emulator ( I use VBA-M https://sourceforge.net/projects/vbam/ ) and acquire a FE7 rom to use. You can find lots of guides online but I don't think I'm allowed to post links regarding those. Sorry.

Massive Chalice: was great and similar to Xcom in style of strategy. Reasonable levels of customization of your team and decisions about who to deploy, where to defend and what to do in situations really make big differences in the game. Loved playing it.

Banner Saga: I only played number 2 and it has great points but I also found certain aspects annoying and it lost my interest before the end so didn't finish... Probably worth trying though.

Fire Emblem: Awesome series

The battle-segments of a lot of the Arkandia games are turn-based strategies, although kinda basic. Armies of Gielenor is the only other TBS I can name.
