Would this be annoying to read?

For December contest I'm considering doing the whole thing in verse. Example:

In Dulenmoore where Ravens cry

a fearsome war was passing by

with the neighboring kingdom of Galensberg

who spat on peace of action and word.

Their first offense was beyond obscene,

for it was they who stole the queen.

One day as she sat beside the brook,

her eyes and thoughts trapped in a book,

Galensberg’s heir, the prince Leopold

Carried out the orders he had been told.

To snatch the queen, to make it known

The North lands would appease him, and them alone.

Would that get annoying to read after a while?

The more verse the more in the spirit of the contest it is, IMO. We're going to be reading lots of long poems for this one.

Will this be posted on the forum or are you going to be trying for an actual CYOA?

Smooth verse is just fine to read, but it's irksome when you run into bumps... Which there always inevitably will be when you write long poems, and you have to tell a pre-planned story that needs details explained which can't be done grammatically while keeping the beat and also writing. I mean, just listen to NC's review of the Grinch. He had to try and fit in his jokes and thoughts, but they didn't fit. There were always extra beats and painful rhymes.

But if your story is intriguing and your mistakes are few,
I'm sure that this style will work out for you.

Would you count the example bit I posted as smooth?

It's pretty smooth. There's fiddly bits that don't roll into the ear as well as others, but if you kept this quality up for several pages, it'd be a masterwork.
