I was wondering, for what reasons do trophy holders give out their trophies? I know tsmpaul gave out his for hitting the top games list, but what about others? 

Tagging "Active Personal Trophy Holders", but this is free for anyone to answer who knows.

They usually give out trophies for contributing a lot of constructive criticism, intellectual posts, and story-games to the community.

I think that Steve wants the porn link instead. I'm good, thanks for offering. Hentai is better because it takes more time and effort to create the animation, and the voice acting is spot-on.

Doesn't say about individual member trophies. That's what I wanted, specific reasons.

hm. must've been updated. 3J used to have a list of members and why they generally gave out their trophies. IIRC wasn't really up to date and half of the people he had listed were inactive.

IIRC March gives his for exceptional excellence and intelligence or something along those lines, alexp for things he enjoys and grand site contributions, Seth for works of literature as storygames (not forum posts), and a few are unknown but don't seem to be random (ie given to members who deserve trophies but some trophy-holders don't say why).

Besides the obvious ones I think the general trophy-giving reason boils down to some form of site contribution. Some trophies harder to get than others (Marchs' trophy is notoriously difficult to obtain)

If I had the ability to give out my own trophy, I would try to make sure that the design on mine will be a Pokéball, and it will be award to our anime addicts on here.

Not that I know Berka’s mind, but I’d say he probably hates you more than Fleshy does since he’s actually here to read your posts on a regular basis.

For some reason madglee got left off the trophy holder thing and he's probably way more active than solostrike at least.

While logic would dictate that you could get one purely through story writing, we all know that's not how the real world works! Lol. It's partially up to how the trophy holders feel about you. (And yes, some of the other important stuff comes into play as well)

Honestly, there is no real hard set rule. Seth gave his trophy to Drakilian just for his forum posts and he never wrote anything. JJJ gave ugilick his trophy just for winning some treasure hunt forum game and again, at the time ug hadn't written any stories either.

That being said, Mizal is probably the next closest to gaining my trophy, since she's actually gotten up off her fat ass to write, one of which is actually feature worthy. Along with providing a lot of writing advice and helping noobs.

However, she fucked up so that's sort of up in the air now.

If MinnieKing actually had some better stories, he'd definitely get a trophy, considering he's written 8 of them along with making the effort of all the story comments he has. He's generally not an asshole either so you can't say the guy isn't trying.

And thus we have the real answer: it is based completely on the trophy holder's current whims.

I'm surprised Nycto was unaware of this answer with how long he's been on this site apparently. I guess judy keeps him a bit too distracted. 

cool and Brair have Berka's trophy too, one for glorious Nippon greatness and wily assassin ways respectfully.

Mythic Nippon was a Forum game BZ ran where I played a ninja heir to the throne. Brair's is probably from the assassins in the palace games.

I'm actually currently working on a storygame that isn't shit. Thankfully, I no longer write storygames in the span of a single day.

Didn't realize Wibbons had written so many stories.

I guess he'd fall into the same category as Minnie.

I'd much rather be a good person who's not a great writer than a good writer who's not a great person.

I guess everyone has got different criteria for giving out their trophies but mine is for people to either have three featured stories or several years of positive contributions to the site or some kind of combination of both. If Briar had published her latest story on here I probably would have given her one but she didn't, I think in December and January I'll have another look at members. There are some site members like Thara and Bucky who haven't got featured stories but have done a lot of really great stuff for the site so I'll have to think who deserves my happy trophy. Or members can just send me large amounts of money and / or delicious edibles in the post. That works too :)

Though to answer the actual question now that I've deciphered the post, she has lots and lots of featured comments and is hugely active in the DMA threads....ALTHOUGH, not as active as MinnieKing, who also has written several stories.

No. She acts as a glorified site janitor, making suggestions that literally anyone could do, and that other people do a shit ton, and she doesn't give that much criticism, all things considered.

I've counted, and she's done 74 comments that were worthy of featuring.

That is plenty enough, imo, even if we have 992 published storygames. She is the second highest person with featured comments besides Minnieking and I've seen people praising him, so I believe she'd be deserving of praise as well.

And while people *could* contribute towards the DMA thread and many have, none have done as much. I will admit I haven't been checking those much, only looking when I'm posting my suggestions and the such, but when I do look it's mostly her posting.

Eh, that's not particularly impressive. A weekend of reading and writing could get that many comments. Plus, the DMA is again just janitorial work for the site, it's not a real achievement.

The janitorial work is pretty important imo. After all, some people deserve their commendations, and who's going to be the one who looks around the site for them :P

Commendations, maybe, I suppose. But trophies? Pffh, nah. Removes all the hard work in getting them and replaces them with a weekend of work.

Well, I guess my bar for featureable comments are rather high then, as the ones I think of are not that easy to write.

Clearly your opinion is too high. Have a look at some of the featured comments that are there and you'll see what I mean.

That is how the system works, but I've pointed out how useless a thing to say that is many times before. Everything's opinion. Paedophiles shouldn't rape kids is just a shared opinion, nothing more. But society functions through the building of standards, and that's how we discuss. When you say "your opinion is yours and Will's opinion is his", you're not adding anything, you're stating something so blatantly obvious and redundant it's a waste of both our time, and it just serves to kill discussion with "Eh, whatever, nothing really matters ultimately".

Honestly, I know that. Since two of the comments I made today which were subpar at best, imo, were featured. *shrugs*

A friend has told me that the standards I judge everything by may not be the best..set of standards, or however you say it. I have a fairly high bar, and very few can live up to it, etc.

Towards Mizal and/or Berka, maybe. But you don't have Berka's trophy, so why would I be butthurt towards you?

On the other side of things, I'd say Killa_Robot qualifies for getting his own personal trophy at this point. I guess when JJJ pops up again that could happen.
 

KR has been unintentionally annoying me for a while. He has been qualified in all aspects for his own user trophy for almost a year now... except he still hasn't reached 2k points yet. He has received about half his points from just his own storygames.

Why is Killa not earning the other 1k?

The laziness is truly shocking when you consider that as an admin he could just give them to himself.

JJJ was sort of discouraging that brand of "corruption" amongst the admins since he'd always go back and take the points away if they were giving themselves a bunch for no real reason. Apparently he had some ongoing point war with March like that or something until March just gave himself infinite points and was done with it.

I really only gave myself a shitload of points when I became an admin so I could have maximum weight value to my ratings, since most of my points came just from stories and that still wasn't enough to even get into the 3000s I think.

But then JJJ gave me a specialized title and infinite points which counts as maximum weight for ratings, so it's all settled.

Do you remember the heinous things Ford did with his point weight? Such a thing should be a cautionary tale and we should all be grateful that the madman was finally eventually put down.

It's so, so satisfying to be able to give a story with inflated ratings a 1 and watch it significantly drop. (Or the other way around I guessed but that's much rarer.)

I wish I'd realized this back when we had daily points because I barely ever bothered, and now it's going to suck if I lose 1000 points too. (Not that I will because Everything Is Fine)

Daily points are one of the only reasons why I have a relatively significant amount of points. By the way, how is your story-writing challenge thingy coming along?

When I had ~4k points for a day, I rated a storygame an 8/8 to see what happens. When 3J returns, it's my #1 question to find out how that exactly affected the ratings and if it still counts (instead of my current value).

Also, yes, I too wish I took all the daily points available.
