never done any of this kind of thing before, but have always wanted to make own of these story games. but i look through the help and info section trying to make heads or tails of all these things im supposed to do to make the story game, and its like im reading Chinese but with most of the info missing. it all just says what things are and what they do, but none of it EXPLAINS whats what and how to do it. i learn best from seeing things done but any tutorial type info anybody can provide would be the dogs bollocks. currently i have written up the very first page you read when starting, but have no idea how to start adding specific links for choosing your name or making decisions and such. im sure i sound ignorant to those skilled in these things but id love to grasp ahold of it. thanks in advance lads!

You really only need the articles once you're ready to tackle variables and scripting and the like. For the basics, just clicking around in the editor goes a long way.

To add choices, click 'Add Link to New Page', this will create a new page you can name that will be linked to the one you created it from. Do that for however many choices you want on that page.

Just plain 'Add Link' is for connecting to already existing pages or ending the game.

For now I'd recommend either just giving your character a name or else making it not come up within the story, meeting the player choose their own requires a little knowledge of using variables.

so using that "add link to new page" option is what becomes a choice to be clicked on? so you make the new page, and just type in what you want the choice to say? and repeat for each choice? what makes the choice work when you click on it? what would you suggest for someone attempting to understand and get the grasp of variables and scripting and all such? much obliged for your patience and help!

It creates a link to a new page at the bottom of the one you're on. (Look at any story on the site for an example...that's what it looks like. Yes, just like that.)

All the new pages work the same as the first one. You type in the name of the new page and there's a text box to type in the actual story bits, and then you create whatever new connecting pages you want from there.

You know you could just try it out, it's not going to explode. Clicking around in the editor a minute or two might save you a lot of wondering and worrying about things. It's easier to just mess around with stuff yourself sometimes rather than follow exhaustive explanations.

You may be right, just afraid of clicking the wrong thing and the whole thing go arseways on me or the like. Thank ya for your help though i appreciate it.
