So here's what will hopefully be the last update thread for Eternal until it is finally finished, unless someone clogs this one up with requests for continual updates…

Anyway, I'm still on year 42. Got one more branch planned out for it and from there I'll probably move on to Year 45.

Right now there is a big war going on with the Children of Tor (Or the Torites) which as you can tell are a new enemy you have to deal with, since I've never referenced them before. (You've never gone that far west of the Empire before either)

Also a conspiracy to assassinate you, but that's rather to be expected.

So far 30 written pages on Word.

Such an Epic tale to begin with and still growing! It's going to take days to play through haha!

And then the replays will start. For all those little hints of some things found in the new chapter.

First of all i want to say i love your stories. Secondly, would it be possible for you to draw a map of the Eternal world. It doesn't need to be perfect a rough sketch would be enough. 

I would, except I really suck at drawing maps.

And I'm not exactly sure, maybe someone can confirm, but I MAY have already screwed up the geography references in some places of the story. Most likely the east/west references. My sense of direction isn't the greatest anyway.

It should be as follows however:

Quala province- Heart of the Empire

Rask province- North of Quala. (Other directions from here are mostly impassible mountains or at least to the point where you couldn't march an army over them)

Arat province- West of Quala (Closest to the Felkan Kingdom)

Delerg province- East of Quala

Going further east is deeper jungle to the point where the jungle is actually hostile and attempting to block you. There are also pygmies and stranger creatures deeper in the jungle too, Going north leads to a large body of water. Going south eventually leads to the "untamed" bit of Nalin where there are 4 warring tribes.

Nalin province- South of Quala

As already mentioned above, going east from here would lead to the untamed bit of Nalin, further east is an ocean. South is the Usksha desert. I never do clarify what lies west. Let's just say more impassible mountains or large body of water. Lol.

Usksha desert- South of Nalin (Nothing here except Usksha nomads and sand worms)

Felkan Kingdom- West of Arat

The Felkan Kingdom also has three named provinces as well: Tral, Gan, and Ibim.

Tral is the heart of the Felkan Kingdom
Gan would be the closest to the Empire (The Arat province)
Ibim is the farthest west and bordering on the gnoll territory

Bonus Geography!

Farther west, past the gnoll territory lies a mixture of untamed land with no major central government.

Here you find:

The Children of Tor who just live off the land and are nomadic, but have a big presence.

A lot of small isolated towns and villages.

The Broki Kingdom which is more southwest when coming from the direction of Empire territory (And directly south of the Children of Tor) This is a crappy kingdom that is constantly in a state of a multiple side civil war by its barons and a king desperately trying to keep it unified. Not nearly as large, let alone as powerful as the Felkan Kingdom.

Farther south from the Broki Kingdom are a bunch of independent city states.

And THAT is all I have for geography so far in the land of the Eternals, save for the Island of Mortos which doesn't have a known location except that it's an island somewhere. (And I'll probably still have a few more places to add later)

No that's never been north. Rask has always been north.

Like I said, if I messed up on any direction references, it would be east/west. North and south have always been pretty much on target.

It doesn't matter if it's a rough sketch. When i read Eternal i have a map on my head which may be completely different than the true map. You can even draw it on windows Paint just to give the reader something to visualize.

I'd assume anything north of Rask would be impossible to reach, but if you can bypass all the wendigos and wildlife...

Do we hit the "North Pole"?  or do you want to expand on the lands North of it?

Further north would mostly be treacherous mountain terrain filled with more ogres, giants, ice drakes and probably worse. Not to mention the climate would be so cold that no average Empire citizen would want to live there anyway.

So you don't try to expand past it. Same for the Usksha desert or deeper into the Delerg jungle. It's just too inhospitable to the point that the effort isn't worth it.

The only logical direction to expand land wise is west. Of course there are ships being sent east.

So you've screwed yourself by making the game head in the two directions that you make mistakes in. :P

Maybe, but again I might be wrong and maybe I didn't screw up the direction references and I'm just being paranoid.

I'm fairly certain I didn't for this last path anyway and even if I did I can easily correct the mistakes when I'm finally putting in this part of the story.

The problem is more or less is wondering if I made this mistake with the Soldier and the Shadow paths. Granted there wouldn't be too many references, but there might be some where misplaced an "east" where I meant "west" and vice versa.

Just checked a major reference to the Felkan Kingdom, and I always had it to the west.

In the soldier path, when the Eternal decides to serve another government it states he rides to the west.

Well, that's a major one I got right at any rate. Hopefully I was just being paranoid after all.

And then artillery is invented by your friendly neighborhood gnomes.

I'm pretty sure more than a few Empire citizens love the smell of napalm in the morning.

I'm assuming you, as the Emperor, are going to march and stomp the effing hail outta the other kingdoms.

Oh and he's a vampire zombie werewolf.

He's a male version of Babette and is also cursed/blessed with being a werewolf and likely skilled with magic? That's about as close as you can get to being a self-proclaimed god in that world. lol

And on a different note I kind of want to play an Eternal-based RP. That would be a very fun game.

Ha ha, better scratch that idea then, wouldn't want someone saying "You stole that idea from Skyrim!"

Now I'm trying to remember that fantasy series where I heard the hero of the story actually punches out a little girl and breaks her jaw and teeth because she's taunting him or something bratty and the people cheer him on and say he was in the right to do so.

Keep in mind, he's not even an anti-hero, he's supposed to be a proper good guy.

In any case, it sounded pretty funny. I can only imagine what the villains of the story were doing.

You say there are ships going further east, presumably looking for large land masses to populate. Is there any chance there is going to be an adventure involving being on one of these ships?  

Maybe, haven't gotten that far yet. I'm still writing a big battle scene involving the Torites which looks like is going to take another branch before moving on to year 45.

Well I think it would be cool to implement something like that. Not that Eternal has to be any cooler than it already is, but it might be something to look into if you ever want to add even more areas to conquer. Or maybe another major story branch. Hahaha that was a joke... unless you want to. 

So right now there are only three major paths? Soldier path, Shadow path and the Empire path?

Right now there are only two major paths. When I finish this last one, then there will be three and the story will be done.

Quick mention of a map.

I'll probably make a really bad attempt at doing a half assed map after I'm done with the story. Might take a bit of time though since I'll need to go back over where I make mention of various locations, towns, cities, etc.

Don't really want to do it yet, because I need to focus on one thing at a time concerning this story. Also, I'll probably be adding more locations in this path and there is no point in having an unfinished map.

If I find that I'm just completely inept (or just really lazy) I'll just post all the various geographical information and someone else can do it.

I'm really looking forward to these updates. I shall hold off reading (for what must be the fifth or sixth time) until it is finished though!

You've only read it 5-6 times? lol Did you find all the endings so far?

At the time, I think so. Last time I played was the... (see I've forgotten now...) new shadow path I think. But I think EndMaster was working on another route at the time, so I only saw one path to the end then. I may have abused the back button quite a lot at the start to see the other routes when I first read through it though.

*scratches away fireplay's post, makes a small cut, freezes him, dumps him into the ocean, sends trained tiger sharks towards him.

*Gently re-writes original post using blood from the small cut previously mentionned.

*Uses the fire in the eye's of the tiger-sharks to calm them and escort me to the shoreline. I then hit Drakilian with a pickle juice attack!*

*As drakilian is stunned I wipe away the blood and rewrite the words in big crappy letters.*

*Takes pickles and shoves them into Fireplay's ear, where the nasty juices melt his brain.
*Cracks open skull and finger paints with what's left, making a nice litte...

*Suddenly the real (possibly another fake) Fireplay appears and stabs Drakilian right through the spine. He then takes the fakes brain matter and again writes the sacred word in a crappy way.*

*Re-appears underneath Fireplay and inserts several tube-like objects into his rectum, which promptly begin burning.

*fireplay is carried into the air, where he explodes, and in large, fiery letters in the sky, is the word...

Drakilian has lost the battle due to an obvious failure of logic on his part. I am Fireplay, I am thus immune to any and all fire attacks. This includes explosions and burning. :)

You deliberately beat Fireplay to the punch by cutting his tendons and dropping a rock on his head. It's that sort of ruthlessness that gets results around here!

Uh yeah so anyway update…

I'm currently finishing up Year 45 and going to be moving on to Year 50 soon. Got about 50 pages written so far.

EDIT: Looks like Fireplay made it anyway. Drak loses points for not being thorough.

Could you remind me how many pages are in each 'path'?

The number of pages thing is more of a measure for me of how much more I feel I need to write I guess.

Here's a run down of each of the Chapter 3s. Not all paths and chapters are created equal! Also some of them contain more than one potential epilogue.

Ch3A1 Bane of Rask: 62 pages on Word (2 epilogues)

Ch3A2 For the Kingdom: 44 pages on Word (1 epilogue)

Ch3A3 Remnant: 88 pages on Word (2 epilogues)

Ch3B1 Shadow Master: 125 pages on Word (2 epilogues)

Ch3B2 Last Shadow: 68 pages on Word (1 epilogue)

Ch3C1 Relic: 153 pages on Word (2 epilogues)

Ch3C2 Successor: ? pages but 3 epilogues planned.

Oh wow, I didn't know Bane of Rask had two endings. (Nor shadow master). Guess ill have to replay the game again. 

I have a sudden need to go play an Civilization-game Mod based on Eternal. Sadly such a gem does not exist.

By the way, do we ever get to know what the entire world is named?

From what i know of it doesn't really have a name just a couple of provinces like the felkan kingdom or the Arat Province but other than that he is very quiet on that subject

Never gave it a name. Hell, I've never even gave the continent where all these provinces are located a name either.

Guess I might have to make those up at some point.

No, the Sahara's sand is too smooth to sustain life-forms larger than a small lizard.  More like the Mojave, or the Kalahari.

The lizards were bigger remember, that and there was sentient life there.  Maybe the Sahara was more habitable before?

Shit, some of these passages I've been writing for these last two paths are getting pretty fucking dark and that's after toning them down a bit. Better lighten the mood slightly in the next page. Perhaps an orc dancing a jig or something!

Burn heathen!

I don't normally tone down stuff as a habit, but I have to remember to ease back a little bit on the torture/rape/gorn at times on this site. Battle scenes and straight up killing are written as normal even if they're brutal deaths. No need to tone those down.

I mean for the most part, Eternal is a fairly bloody fantasy setting, but that's about it. However, for this last path I had to get into a darker psychological bit with the protagonist and granted he's never really a "good guy" even in the soldier and shadow path, but he's definitely in villain protagonist territory in the True Eternal path.

Having Mistress extra years as a trainer with her undivided attention will sort of have a long negative affect on someone that's already prone to excessive violence.

Don't worry there's still enough darkness going around, but I'm trying to avoid graphic sexualized violence. (Well at least not page after page of it anyway)

Well the continent's name is Evigrus now, so no more nameless continent.

Since I decided to look it up. The closest thing I could get to that word is about a guy named Evagrius the Solitary. Some Christian monk.

No connection, but that's some interesting trivia though.

And is this map I found CREATED in the Stonehenge ruins at all accurate?

That map is completely wrong. Well not completely as far as the general location directions, but that isn't my vision of the land.

For one thing the kobolds don't have their own territory, they're basically living underground in Nalin.

Usksha desert is larger and extends further south. Doesn't border the Felkan Kingdom at all.

Quala is pretty much landlocked. Hence why the Empire never did have that much of a navy (Well not until certain events anyway) and were more interested in land strength than sea power since there wasn't really any need for it.

Delerg is more or less okay, though there isn't that little land bridge area you have and it completely borders Quala.

Rask doesn't "hook" to the west and isn't even touching the Felkan Kingdom. It's borders somewhat touch Arat though. It completely borders Quala. If it extends it's going to be to the north and east. Though eventually east just starts becoming ice flows and ocean.

Felkan Kingdom is a bigger than that, so are Arat and Nalin for that matter. Though all that area where you had the kobolds and the 4 tribes are technically part of Nalin anyway. And as usual Nalin and Arat both completely border Quala (Making it landlocked)

Basically in order to get to the Felkan Kingdom from Empire territory, you HAVE to go through Arat.

Gnolls and indies are fairly correct though I'd probably still move some stuff around.

A bunch of city states (Confederacy of Free Cities) are south of the Broki Kingdom and the last major bit of civilization south of those city states is a large mountain containing "New Dessel" where all the gnomes fled to after the Felkans lost the war... (And there you go I just revealed extra information on the story) You're hitting water after that.

The Children of Tor have FAR more territory than that. In fact you'd have to switch all that land mass you have to the south and put it west. I haven't even really decided what the stopping point is on the "west yet. But I'm currently in the middle of stating that the entire continent has more or less been navigated by the new navy you build so there is an "end" to it (As well as the rest of continent of Evigrus) and I'll probably put another large nation on that end of things.

Still working on a name and ruler for that one though. (The Sorcerer King of the Nation of Nakol is the current place holder)

Also working on some islands or another continent to the east inhabited by some beings called the Aznak. (Name subject to change)

Hell, I need to write these notes down myself so I don't forget them.

I was looking at the map wondering how flogs orc kingdom would work into this. Obviously it would be North of Rask but I was curious how much Rask territory the Orcs conquered after the fall of the empire

In the shadow path where Flog actually made something out of himself. He's basically stuck in the more wilderness territory past Fort Defiance which was technically the last major outpost of Empire presence before you just started hitting the occasional small village and the "impassible" giant and ogre infested mountains.

The orcs just sort of started expanding slowly downward and taking over more of Rask as the years passed by. As I remember they're pushing into Quala by the time you're 101.

The map is actually Pangea in case you wanted to know.

I'd also like to say the Eternal-RP site was updated a bit from what I could tell.

Year 50 (Had to go back one year for the story to flow better)

Basically I'm trying to sort out the storyline of what's to come so I can get on with the writing. So far the "immortal" sorcerer king of Nakol is definitely in. I'm basically coming up with a whole plot line dealing with him and also trying to tie in another factor related to him.

The new continent is in as well, but I changed the name of the people living on it to the Iznac who aren't human.

New continent is called Nyttrus.

Yeah, I don't have much of an update, except that I'm currently on year 52 and writing a sex scene. Well it's sort of a sex scene. Nevermind, I've said too much.

Anyway I will be moving on to year 55 at some point.

Eternal vs. "Immortal" [Not really]...

The sorcerer king is actually on the same continent. He's just located on the furthest western portion which had the benefit of being isolated due to a large mountain range keeping it relatively free from a lot of strife.

The other continent is home to the Iznac and a bunch of other tribal civilizations.

Well, the whole two-continent situation was started by prospecting sailors for their countries to get to the Orient.  They didn't mean to kill and enslave, but they did want to expand and own.  On top of that, there were missionaries.

The Empire just wants to expand, kill, and enslave.  Nothing but the pure patriotism and the need for resources drives the Empire.

I thought they the colonies only enslaved when there was too high of a demand for a resource, and not enough manpower...

Slavery was profitable and cheap until it wasn't. Other than the ethical and moral reasons, it got to the point where it was getting economically inefficient. You have to actually somewhat take care of your slaves at least so they'll be able to work after all. It's actually cheaper to just pay your laborers very low wages and have them fend for themselves.

The Empire doesn't really have regular slavery at this point other than for criminals and dissidents so its used more as a punishment. (Might as well get some free labor out of those prisoners)

Though at one point entire races such as the halflings (Exterminated) the gnomes (Escaped) the orcs (Freed on military service) were all slaves.

By the time the Eternal comes into the picture, the majority of elves were the only ones still under slavery and don't get released until much later (Depending on what happens to the Empire).

There were always human slaves too, but again with humans it was reserved more for criminals and such.

Then I'll be curious as to what happens when we get to the new continent.

War, more war, bloodshed, magic, expansion, rebellion, hate, war... wait I already said war.

Mistress and the Eternal are very "broken" individuals is putting it mildly. Lol.

Currently working on Year 54. Had to step back a year when I realized events would play out quicker after changing a few of them.

78 pages so far. After I'm done with this little storyline part I'll be moving on Year 56.

Just another quick update since I had some fairly major ones and I've been on an unusually active and creative roll this week.

Still on Year 54 and currently at 84 pages. However certain story events in this chap caused me to change a few pieces of info you discover in one of the branches in the Fortunate Son chap and in the Relic chap.

Basically I decided you shouldn't really get more background info on a certain person (take an easy wild guess on who) unless you followed a certain path. This cleans up some repetition I previously had as well.

Also I'm currently working on a major branching point where one way is going to lead up to one major epilogue and the other is going to lead to the other (With the third one still being determined where I'll put it) At this point both paths should play out completely differently.

I imagine I'll get a bunch of random 1s and random people complaining about the swearing as usual. Lol.

lol True enough, those foolish orcs trying to bring down the Shadow or Felkan Empire.

This is kinda off topic but when I read your story endmaster Imagination, were the names references to eternal.

Imagination references a lot of my stories, but Eternal isn't one of them because I hadn't even written it yet when I created Imagination. Doesn't reference any of my fantasy based stories actually, save for one that I ended up deleting since I didn't feel it was up to par.

What about the soldiers serving the empire in  that and the shadows being the pedo birds. Or is does eternal refrence that?

It was called "Quinn…the Barbarian?" Basic premise was you were part of a barbarian tribe in a snowy land and nobody really respected you so you had to prove yourself and this lead to various ways to do it.

It was on Infinite Story for years, it was like the second story I wrote on there. Like I said though after awhile I just felt the writing wasn't up to par.

The story technically hasn't been lost forever though. I still have a copy of it, since I considered that perhaps I might one day go back to rewrite and expand on it.

To Nuke:

The reference to "The Empire" (And some of the named soldiers) are actually a reference to Paradise Violated since you serve "The Empire" in that as well. I suppose I'm just fond of calling nations with large amounts of territory "The Empire." No connection to Eternal though.

The shadow enemies in Imagination were just a traditional children's story type of antagonist. Their master, the Nightmare Tyrant is a reference to a character from another story though.

On a completely different note, your paradise violated game is much too underrated, you did an excellent job with the story, the inquisitor especially. I was surprised that no one had ever mentioned it before on the forums, or that it just seems to be tucked away, hidden behind all your other games, it definitely deserves to be featured.

(I mean, it has a high rating and everything, but it feels as if it's just not played as often or recognized as much as any of your other games)

Paradise Violated was featured at one time, I think Homo Perfectus 7 bumped it off.

I'm surprised Mechanised assault unit is still being featured- It's really just an introduction, the author even says so himself at the beginning. Thought paradise would replace it for sure ^_^

The Scifi genre was almost entirely dominated by TSMPaul at one time and for whatever reason it used to have a top 7 rather than a top 6 (or less) I remember GZ replaced something when I got here, then I think Paradise got slipped into that 7th spot.

Then at some point JJJ's story replaced one of Paul's and later one the other scifi stories got taken down so it was just six. Then Homo Perfectus 7 was the last story to get featured in the scifi section replacing Paradise Violated.

i haven't found a sci-fi one yet ive "enjoyed" here....

i may have to change that.

Year 60.

95 pages so far.

Should I bump for an update or wait another day? Hmm...

Ha, dark room probably had Endmaster's focus for a day, so it's not gonna be much of an update (if any)

Still on Year 60, but I'll probably be moving on to Year 67 after I write a few more pages. (Might do a Year 65 first though, not sure yet)

I actually already wrote out some of "Year 67" a while back, but I made a mistake since I was writing Year 67's events during Year 56. So I just saved that stuff on my notes section. Some of it is still going to be different, but the premise and general plot is going to be the same.

Year 67. 101 pages so far. Just finished a battle with a dragon.

Or rather finished writing a battle with a dragon.

Anyway coming up to a major branching point in the story where each will eventually lead to an epilogue, so the end is in sight for this path in general.

(I of course will still have to go back and finish up the other path leading up to the special thirteenth epilogue, as well as all the minor branches and dead ends.)

As a side note, I dunno if it was all the sexy spider sister sex talk earlier, but the last few passages leading up to the epilogue were sort of disturbing. It's okay though because it was ALL necessary for the plot. (No, really!)

I'm telling you though I feel like even if this was the only epilogue I was adding, it would beat out all the current ones I have up.

This epilogue was a little more difficult to write since I had a different idea for it at first, but I changed it as I was getting closer to writing the path for it. It's probably even delving into science fiction, but what the hell this isn't reality, but an incredible simulation!

(To be quite honest though, it isn't the first time I've delved into scifi for the story. Both of the chapter 3s for this path are already going the steampunk route at times anyway.)

Now with this last epilogue its going to take longer to complete mainly because the split for it is way back a few decades. So there will be lots to write before it comes about. That's not even taking all the minor branches and such I'll need to tie up.

Anyway this one is definitely looking like it will be the longest chapter over all.

this is great and I can't wait to play the update. If this game isn't the best one on this site the updated version definitely will be.

^Agreed, But there are plenty of story's that reach the same level as Eternal in terms of enjoyment. Eternals just that one story that you will always want to go back and read again and again and again...

Is there a way i could download Endmaster's stories just in case the website goes down forever (hope not) for backup reason? I have read a lot of good stories throughout the years that i regret not saving a copy.

I remember this being a suggestion that got denied a while back. I think the only way to do that would be to copy every page and paste it into a word document or something.

If this was CoG I'd probably have to include gay, bi and tranny romance options. Along with a female protagonist option, though one day I would like to make a larger story with a female protagonist.

I already fulfilled the gay quota for the story with Cyrus and his boyfriend anyway. (Along with Captain Pollo and Eldolith)
 

No major update other than completing a couple endings and rewriting a section so it better fits with some changes I made.

I was thinking of having a choice of starting as boy/girl but just not in the story I am working on yet.

I even thought of having a Female Character who goes around making sex crimes! muahaha JK

Not much of an update, but my mistake made me laugh.

"Sprawled to the ground, you attempt to cast a cone of frost, but the minotaur has already followed up its attack and picked you up off the ground with both hands. Then with one quick move he slams your back over his neck breaking it and throws you in front of the chimera, which has successfully put out the flames you bestowed upon its face earlier."

Of course what I meant to write is the minotaur slams your back over his knee (Which then results in your broken back)

The minotaur in that part of the story is definitely tough, but if he actually had a neck strong enough to break your back with, he'd be a bad ass indeed.

Anyway, still working on some endings.

Well, I envisioned him more as singing it ironically. The enemy army was practicing yoga as a de-stressing exercise, and then the Eternal suddenly shows up with his silver hammer...honestly End, this stuff is solid gold, I don't know why you don't hire me as a co-author.

Asking for an update 3 days later won't get much results. You have to let Endmaster get some major stuff done on the story before asking him for an update. :)

Finally done with all the minor branches and background links I was working on. 167 pages on Word so far which makes it the biggest chapter out of all the chapters in Eternal.

Next step is to work on finishing up the last path leading to the 13th and final epilogue. Still not sure how long that's going to take because I still have to do some major events during that path (some of which I've been going back and forth on as to what to include) but the end at least now feels like it is in sight.

I was playing this game again and I had a thought. Is Kane named after Cain from the bible because he turns on his brother and tries to kill him or am I just looked to far into the game?

One could interpret it that way I suppose.

Despite my current preoccupation with killing people, robbing banks, jacking cars and playing the new grand theft auto game, I actually have been working on the story.

Currently on Year 62.

I actually had to rewrite a bit of Year 60 so it fit better. Added another choice during that year too.

At this point I pretty much got an idea of how the next few major events are going to play out, it's just a question of getting the time to write them out and making sure the storyline makes logical sense.

After I post the story and after its been up awhile I'll probably post a thread releasing all scrapped ideas I had.

Ooh, that would be pretty interesting I imagine - can't wait for both now!  :)

Note to Eternal-Self: Do not use Life Drain on undead, does not work. Likely result? Death and zombiehood.

You'll be encountering a lot of necromancers if you decide to invade the Island of Mortos.

wait a minute....do any of these necromancers have...names? Anyone calling himself  "The Great Lich Lord" or any such thing?

I doubt it, remember how his presence was enough to kill most of the weaker ones and he already disliked everybody else? 

by the end it was. but in the middle (where I believe he went to war with a certain empire) his presence wasn't that powerful. 

Even if one of the side characters got a mention here or there, it would be a funny shout-out.

Or even if the planeswalking god of death (from the epilogue) just happened to planeswalk right into the middle of this story? Would be kinda cool to see the god of death vs. "eternals." (or "immortal" sorcerers, if you could somehow pit them against each other.)

Year 80

Had split up this 13th ending path onto another document because it's getting really long. 57 pages for this split path alone.

224 pages so far on this last chapter total though.

Man seriously hope you finish this thing as soon as possible.

It has been my most anticipated game of 2013. Better than AAA games like GTA V (well GTA V IS great too)

Somehow, I feel like with the time and effort going into this, this path would be considered more "true" than the others..."

Heh, no "true" endings for this story. Enjoy which ever ending you like (Even the horribly gruesome death ones!) since I don't plan on doing a sequel to this story.

One reason why this last path in general is taking so long is because I was initially slightly concerned that it wouldn't measure up to the other ones or be too short. They had to at least be as long as some of the Shadow branches.

Chapter 3C1 which leads to endings 9 & 10 is pretty damn long and turned out a lot better than I thought it would mainly because I didn't even have it planned out at the time and was pretty much making it up as I went along.

Given some of the stuff that happens in THAT branch I started to get concerned with Chapter 3C2 not measuring up. So that one ended up being very long as well as I started adding and changing things. The stuff leading to endings 11 & 12 also sort of changed slightly so that in my mind I felt that they would measure up to 9 & 10.

With Ending 13 I basically have to top (or at least match) myself yet again, but considering I had this one planned out somewhat from the beginning, it's just a matter of filling in the middle bits to make it more exciting I suppose.

Probably when I'm ready to add all this new stuff, I'm going to go back and put numbers on the top of the page titles of all the major endings. None of them are really better or worse than the others since they all amount to a "win" though I suppose HOW you won might be important to some.

I think Eternal Survivor has been your longest path yet, right? (Not the epilogue itself, but I remember it taking a significantly longer amount of time to reach that path (Or at least, exhaust all of the options for that path) than it took me to do the others.

The Shadow Master chapter is currently longest with 125 pages on Word and two different endings. (Messiah and Terror)

Last Shadow was 68 pages and had one ending. (Survivor)

Remnant was 88 pages and had two endings. (Patriot and Couple)

Bane of Rask was 62 pages and had two endings. (Savior and Bane)

For the Kingdom! was the shortest with 44 page and only one ending. (Warrior)

Relic will be the second longest with 153 pages and two different endings

Successor will be the longest because its already over 200, has three endings and I still haven't filled in some of the dead end choices or even written the last ending yet (Getting very close to the ending though, hoping to achieve that goal over the weekend)

I suppose I just didn't enjoy it as much as the others then, haha.

So, any plans for future works after this?

I dunno, Swift said he didn't like any of the Shadow stuff.

Conversely some preferred it because it was more like they were playing as the "good guys" since they didn't like having to play a "bad guy." (Those people tended to not like the story in general though)

I completely love the story! both as army dog, rebell, shadow master and well, everything else.^^ (I got to slaughter people, yay)

I found that the Soldier path was better written (As if you'd put more effort into it)

I see no way in which the shadow path is the "Good guy" version, you play an assassin cult leader, one of the endings has you becoming an assassin guild leader who hungrily obsesses over the power of his false god, another has you responsible for an innumerable amount of holy wars in the future (Survivor, I believe) and another has you become a benevolent (Only to your cult assassins) sort-of plane god (Like messiah, except you expose the god and you're not as much of a dick to your followers).

But yeah, I played the shadow path first, I liked the first two I reached (Eternal Messiah and Eternal Terror)

Soldier paths were the first ones I wrote so they probably came off with more of a straight forward goal in mind. They're sort of simpler compared to the Shadow paths.

Religion in general tends to be a pain for me to write though, that's why I tend not to refer to it so much in any of my stories and just maybe make a few brief mentions of such things in the background. Of course with the Shadows I couldn't do that because they were a pretty big deal, so I had to delve a little deeper into some of their motivations.

Really I was still going back and forth on whether or not to even do a Shadow path at first ("Die" would've lead to just that!), but once I got going it started to come together.

Personally I like the Last Shadow path out of that storyline the best. Part of it reminds me slightly of the isolation of the Experimental Shelter path in Ground Zero except Dendrin is a lot more of a mocking dick towards you than Eliza ever could be and you do a lot of sitting around just talking to your dead girlfriend Talia who of course doesn't answer, unlike rockerchick. Lol.

Still, it all works out in the end and you do some fairly good guy things in that path like killing some rapist second gen Eternals, trying to train the common people to defend themselves against them and eventually raise an adopted daughter.

The other path that comes close to a "good guy" path is ironically Bane of Rask. You're a mercenary, but you're more or less just killing harmful monsters for people and then run a combat school and you have a protégée that you come to view as a son.

And you get crippled by wendigo bunnies, hahaha....

I enjoyed the path as well, but the whole "Talking to your dead girlfriend" thing got very old after the first few pages, for me at least.

The 13th ending is complete. So far 241 pages total.

I'm still not done with writing though, I still have 11 dead end branches to work on (and 1 background branch) and I'll try to get those done as soon as I can.

Then of course will come the long task of actually posting all this stuff!

The end is definitely coming closer though.

If you were to give an estimate, when do you think it'll (the whole thing) be done?

I'd say about 3-4 months, that sound right End?

Shouldn't take that long, I already made a promise to at least try to finish this thing before the new year.

The big stuff is done as far as story is concerned. I mean I might go back and alter a bit of dialog or description while I'm working on other stuff, but that's it. What I imagine what's going to trip me up at times is writing out a few of the dead end branches since I still have to write them out well and not just say "UR DEd LoL!"

As for the actual posting, that might take me a few days. In the past I'd usually try to post an entire story in one sitting (Sometimes through the night) but given the length of this stuff, I'm anticipating at least two or three days with free time permitting. (Then I have to go over to IS and do the same thing, but the editor is a little user friendlier over there so it takes less time.)

A hopeful estimate for everything to be finished would be by the end of October.

A realistic estimate would probably be early to mid November.

The worst thing is when you're writing out one of these supposed 'dead end' branches and you find yourself going 'huh...this is interesting...maybe I should turn it into a proper path, what's another 50 pages after all?'

And then the very same thing happens with the next branch, and the next...

I should mention there is a 14th ending which is a pretty positive one for you, but due to the fact that it doesn't result in a long term meaningful remembrance of your character it doesn't get a special "Eternal…" epilogue bit.

Though it originally did have an epilogue tag, but I came up with some extra endings elsewhere and having 14 sort of fucked up my "edgy" 13 epilogues goal so just consider it the unofficial 14th ending.

Technically there's a 15th too, but again you have no meaningful mark on the world and that one is also the BIG FAT LOSER ending and definitely not a win in an sense of the word.

Eternal Bliss and Eternal Torment were going be their names. (You'll know when you get them)

Originally it was supposed to be 10 epilogues.

Then I got an idea to have 2 more and then I figured I'd go with one more to make it 13.

Then Bliss and Torment got dropped for two new ones that better fit the "legacy" idea.

Plus 13 is a nice superstitious number.
