Yesterday, I hit the four year mark of my time here at CYS. ^^
I've seen this place go through a lot of ups and downs. Contests, fan invasions, parades of trolls, bad stories, epic role plays, mountains of in-jokes, fights. I've won some, I've lost some and I've learned a lot. I've seen new members establish themselves in big ways and old vets hang up their hats and move on.
Over all, I've had some great moments here and made friends with some amazing people, so while I can't say it's always been fun, it's absolutely been worth it. I love this place.
So, thanks for joining me on this crazy ride, fellow CYStians. I hope we have many more years together and that, no matter what, they'll be filled with experiences to cherish. Cheers.
I just wanna be he first to say I would love 4 more years.
#AnybodyButOurRealCandidates, right? xD
I've been thinking about this too much.
Cosine of the circle?
Damnit! I knew I fucked something up!
I WAS GOING COUNTER-CLOCKWISE FOR COSINE!
Aww, Kiel-sama! That was so touching!
We love you, too.
I may or may not have gone to starbucks just for this xD
Congrats! I hope you have more great years here! :D
(And now I have to go home again xD)
Lol. Aw. Thank you. :3
:D Yep! ... And hopefully with them, all those other stories I promised you folks. xD
Kiel, you've been a fantastic member of the site the entire time, you've written some great stories, been a terrific member of the forums and done much, much more. I've very grateful for the past four years, be it what I was around for or what I wasn't, and I hope to have you around the site in the future.
And AYT said my post was touching, heeh... thanks, man. =D Your writing has definitely contributed a lot to this place, too, and I am thankful for that.
Come January 20th, you're out of here bub.
I'm kidding, of course. Happy four year anniversary, Kiel. My third anniversary is coming up soon. By that I mean in half a year.
xD Took me a second to get that. I'm tired today.
Happy (very) early anniversary. xD
You make it sound like you're retiring or something.
xD Do I? I don't think retirees hope for "many more years" of their job...
Yeah. It's like you're reading the beginning of the post and it's so touching that it seems as if the writer is going to leave, but the very last sentence always is like "I hope to continue..." or "I will be here..."
Then I guess neither of you are accustomed to these kinds of speeches.
I don't think anybody is. Most people start off like "It's so cool that I'm so awesome. LOVE ME." Then end like you did.
Good point. Actually, we do normally have a lot of people making long speeches about leaving... xD the assumption checks out.
A lot can happen here in a couple years, though.
Congrats, Kiel. Hoping to make more memories and shit with you and the other motherfuckers here. :)
xD Thanks. But I've never fucked anyone's mom!
Come to think of it, I have no clue when my Slasher account was made. Is there a way to check that?
...I missed my one year anniversary.
Well your two year anniversary is coming up.
Let's recap his great moments!
Getting into a bunch of pathetic fights with Playa988!
Getting his ass handed to him in said fights!
Being the all-around butt monkey of the site!
Getting banned on 4/20!
JK, he's my bruh. Still though, made a LOT of mistakes as Slasher. Then again, I made a lot of mistakes in my early days sooo... Yeah.
Beautiful times. Thanks for reminding me, Chris.
Yeah, you're my bruh too. Not that ShadowHills has made better choices, but whatever.
Like that profile pic? Ooh, or having a mental breakdown on your 'So Yeah, I'd Like Some Advice' thread?
Hey, my profile picture isn't that bad. Okay, the mental breakdown was pretty horrible.
It's alright, m8.
Now let's stop derailing, this is about Kiel.
Thanks, Kiel. XD
Does coins' not count?
Nah, wouldn't wanna make Endmaster jealous. Coins' dad, on the other hand, is fair game.
Jealous? I'm sure they'd love a threesome.
This is getting kinda weird.
A threesome with Endmaster and Coins' mom? ... Hm. *shrug* Sure, I'm down. Might as well find out if he really has tentacles and shit like the rumors say. Plus, I do kinda wanna see Coins' mom, gotta be some reason he keeps tapping that.
Right! Sorta forgot it was polite to reply to the op before starting derails. :b
The only RP I remember you being in was Commander. Ever thought of joining a normal rp here again?
Aw. I love this place too. <3
Well, I don't expect to be leaving anytime soon. And if I do plan on leaving, I'll make sure to give plenty of warning. :3
I remember him joining The Villagers Round 3 a while ago, and he also joined Seth's RP Mikazuki Island. Not to mention he probably joined some before Commander.
Yeah, and aside from that, I was in two mafia style RPs, I did two RPs with Thinslayer based on Fate Stay Night, I joined two other RPs which both had a rebirth theme (one was more tech based, and had my pirate captain character, another had a fire demon,) one post apocalyptic story, one military based, and also a ... Clue based game, I think? It was ATY's? I RPed as Hikari for that one.
So ... actually, I've RPed a fair bit here, it's just that most of the RPs I've joined died out quickly, barring that one with my pirate persona, that lasted like, four threads.
Anyway, it's gotten to the point where I just sort of expect everything to die and rarely join--I couldn't resist joining Seth's, though. The vibe of the concept really appeals to me.
That avatar is adorable. It vaguely reminds me of neopets, though. Also, thanks.
-‿- Wakfu, actually.
I didn't say it was Neopets, I know it isn't. It just reminded me of it. But good to know. :3
Congrats though, it's good to have you here.
I'm looking forward to enjoying out time here together, especially with you, Kiel. :)
I wish I had thought to put a '5 years' thread up in May.
Mine would've been more along the lines of 'Why have I been here 5 years? Anniversary of one of my worst mistakes', obviously.
You forgot Veal Farren and Meal Farren.
*gasp* Poor Veal! Also, I noticed Meal but forgot to edit my post :P.
You probably forgot it. Should've eaten your lamb chops.
HOLT SHIT HE'S ALIVE!!!
You're making a mockery of our modly father, who art in Mod Central. Repent sinners, repent!
You scare me sometimes, Ford. xD Thank you.
xD ... If you want to, man.
Why...why do you even have a Kiel alt army?
I wish that thread wasn't deleted, it was hilarious.
It was pretty funny, yeah... if a bit creepy, but it was also pure chaos. xD (Truth be told, I saved a copy.)
(Can I see it? o_o)
The Masons shall thrive. -_-
Why does one of them just have a shit ton of points deducted? Also I just wasted five minutes clicking through all of those
Wasted?! I THINK NOT!
I was wondering when these guys would come back. Come brothers! Let us rejoice for our Modly father!
Where is Repeal_Farren? O.o
Repealed until further notice...
There you are XD
Congrats! To another wonderful four?
Note: Endmaster is not a moderator.
I'm still surprised of that fact.
There's Berka, Fleshy, JJJ, Madglee, Seth, and now Kiel.
Choco, solo, and Alexp are others to hold in highest regards and reverence.
It's been proposed before, (he is popular and a lot of people respect his writing) but while I'm sure he wouldn't turn down the position, he's never specifically asked or offered to my knowledge. Plus, there's more to it than just being respected or talented. Besides, do you guys really want him to be too busy to write stories? He's contributed a lot as a writer.
I fear for the power that he will be given.
He'd probably let everything slide for the lulz.
I'm a fast learner. :P
Cool! I'm almost on my third year. Anyways, congrats!
Yep! Wait... Who will start the decade celebration forum when the time comes!?
Ooh, four years! Congratulations, friend-o ^_^ *hug* You've seen a lot of good, bad and...incredibly weird, huh? You patient, patient individual. Well, I met you through here when I joined and I hope we remain friends for a long time too~
Maybe if you're here for another four years, I'll have actually released a story-game in that time. Huh.
Thanks, Stormy. :3 I hope we do, too. Honestly, feels like we already have been, heeh. *hug*
Happy anniversary Kiel! Hope you'll stay for many more years.
Darn, forgot to make my five and a half years anniversary post...
Yay Kiel!! ^_^
Here's a celebratory link to "cats popping balloons"
xD I love it... lol. That "Wtf? o.o Where'd it go?" moment.
Yay! That's awesome. The fact that someone can stick around on a website for so long is truly amazing! You have done so much for the site! You've made awesome games, and you even became a mod! While I have only been on CYS for 14 short months, it's changed so much. Many eras have come and gone. The Pudding-Spork War, the WC hordes, the site reforms, and the trolls are just a few of the events. I hope you will stay president for another term an awesome mod and member for many years to come.
Thanks, Wizzy. :D There are still plenty of older vets than me, mind you, but I am proud of staying active this long.
Congratz, Kiel. You're one of the best moderators... ever. No matter either the next four years will be good or shit, you'll forever be the one of the best guys, if not, the best.
>\\\> I don't think I've earned that degree of praise, but thank you, Raven.
Other than being active, you seem to be the mod with the best judgement. So I respect that.
Without Kiel, I imagine we'd be in some kind of dystopian parallel world where everything is burning in flames, and warrior cat fan fiction reigns supreme.
...but the WC was destroyed before Kiel was a mod. That was by JJJ. And it was the other mods that got rid of the trolls who were flaming everything, again, before kiel was a mod.
You still see warrior cat stuff pop up from time to time. There was one a week back or so I believe? I wasn't around much between a few years ago and when it was banned, but I'm happy to see it taken down right away. You need active mods to handle things as they happen, to hold up the foundation that all the people who came before built up. Keeping the peace so the fires don't ever start, can be as important as putting out the flames after they've happened.
Believe me, Taco, there are always more trolls and WC fans. Y'all just don't always get to see them because we tend to keep them pretty well contained, but a large amount came through here just shortly after I started. Brennon, the incident with Beardon's friends, Mizal's friends, your regular flamers and porn posters, duel cheaters, spammers, exc, exc.
WC fans well contained? That's... a little harsh man
You weren't there. You don't have the nightmares that we have. You don't get to judge us for our treatment of WC fans.
I still have flashbacks.
*cue White Rabbit*
Hey, people were calling for their extermination. Containment was the most merciful thing we could do without letting CYS be destroyed by the rampage.
Remember, attention is horizontal, business is vertical.
Random joke about cutting yourself FTW.
Wait, did you think I was talking about you? I'm talking about the friend that made troll accounts.
The weasel words and PA ride again.
Uh huh. You're welcome to ask Mizal since you obviously don't know what the fuck I'm talking about. You're not on my troll radar, get over yourself. :P
You're really going to post a conversation two other moderators smacked down? ... I'm kind of disappointed.
So am I. It was, whiny, passive agressive, whiny, twatwaffles, and whiny. Perfect CYS drama over nothing.
... Shame I don't value your opinion anymore, or else that might mean something. So how far do you intend to push something that everyone else wanted to quit?
As has been mentioned, you provide a valuable service, keeping the WC clean of WC. Less valuable, is the martyrism, but hey. It's something.
Not opinion, kinda objectively true. Feefees were hurt, there was flailing. And now, a thread with the express purpose of worshipping someone who, can occasionally click a button, delete a thread or game. Not hard, or deserving of respect.
Lol... the fact that I mentioned trolls still exist and WC fans aren't gone, and I talked about us (all the mods) containing them smacks of martyrdom to you when it was part of a discussion about when those things were dealt with? If I'd started actually complaining and out of the fucking blue, that would be one thing.
You think I made this thread for people to worship me? I thanked the community and talked about loving this place and learning from my time here. I'm not asking people to praise me, I didn't become a mod for praise, but you have some fucking nerve. If you had any real contributions to this site, sure, I might give more weight to your words. As it is, the criticism seems pretty damn empty.
My apologies if being critical of your actions hurt your feelings. I was raised to treat people like adults, not coddle in wool and nice words.
Simple truth, is you like the attention, good and bad, and you enjoy having people fawn over you. Ere might be something of real skill and talent under that empty praise, but I cant see it through clouds of, to me, meaningless drivel.
Cheerio ducky, remember that introspection and honest assessment arent swearwords, but useful tools to any writer. Or mod. Especially meh ones.
Honestly? No. Like I said, sounds too empty to really mean anything to me. You come off more like a yapping dog than anyone attempting proper critique.
I like to socialize and I like to help people, but if I wanted attention, I already had it before I became a mod. In fact, I'd probably have a lot more positive attention if I had just continued writing stories. I don't know where that personality you're projecting on to me is coming from, but I don't expect you to see through it any time soon.
I trust you have no intention of taking your own advice, but that's nice.
A Chihuahua vs A Wolf pretty much is what I'm seeing.
I see two people bickering on the Internet.
I see two bears high fiving.
I didn't know you lived in San Fransisco.
I don't believe we've met. I apologize that this'll be our first interaction, since I try to stay upbeat. Interesting thing. I'm just some fool, who enjoys writing, rambling, science fiction, music and other stuff. I have an opinion like anyone else. That doesn't make it more or less special. It's words. Some people will agree or disagree with them. I state what I feel is true, and gladly admit when I'm wrong. The thing is though, I'll probably publish a few storygames, speak my mind some, then I may disappear as quickly as I appeared. Most people do that. I've never given anything substantial to the community, let alone barely been active in it. There's a lot of people here who've given years, many years, of their lives to being with this community.
If you've ever put any kind of time into help managing a site or forum, it's a much bigger a commitment than simply clicking a few delete buttons and hanging out. The majority of the garbage that happens is stuff the average user wont see, because: the mods are doing their job. Often times they're specifically targeted because of their job. They log in every day, throughout the day, and don't get to focus on their writing, because they're caught up making the environment good for others to write instead. It truly is a thankless job, as further confirmed by your response to this thread.
If we want to get technical, then Birthday parties are incredibly selfish too. Amongst other celebrations. Everyone is born, everybody has a Birthday. Why is it so special? It's not. It's just some cheap excuse to get praise, have people suck up to you, and give you free stuff for a day, right? Not really. People like something to celebrate, to be happy over. To celebrate positive occasions with others. To see others succeed or be in a good mood. While it may seem like otherwise, this is not an entirely selfish world. People do not always do something, or want to share something fun with others, for some kind of self-gain. There's certainly people out there who are very self-absorbed. However you're looking in the wrong thread for it.
Because of what admins and mods on this site do, I can sit here in my own little world, and write nonsense without worry since they've got it under control. And I have great fun doing it. Speaking of which, I should get back to it. Because they've got it handled fine without me saying anything more.
Time for everyone to write Bucktales about coming to your birthday party!
This shit got derailed faster than the Montparnasse derailment.
Can you please clean this up, Kiel?
Are you fucking kidding? That's the funniest part of the thread!
Besides, it all resulted in a BANHAMMER and as we all know it isn't a real CYS celebration unless someone gets killed!
(Sort of like a Dorthraki wedding except with less rape)
Um, Mr. End, sir. Who got banned?
Iavatus apparently, though his name was still appearing at the bottom last time I looked. I guess it takes awhile to update.
And that, ladies, gentlemen, and omnisexual gender-fluid helicopters, is why you don't flame the mods.
Iavatus deserves it. He called me a Warrior Cat.
You're not a Warrior Cat?
You are stupid. I am not a Warrior Cat, and I never will be one.
My apologies. I just thought you were, given your behavior and your username.
I can't tell if this is meant to be insulting or pacifying.
I wasn't trying to be insulting. I apologize if it came across that way.
This reminds me of when mizal thought I was a WC fan. :(
Well Jesus, that was the most passive aggressive insult I've ever seen on this site. Shit, what has Wizzy done to deserve this fire spitting?
Not unless you explain to Sentinel what the Montparnasse derailment is.
In a PM, because he has to sleep soon and the response might get deleted.
This shit escalated quickly!
Can't tell if Ivy was fucking with you or not, but this made me laugh.
Have a good one, Kiel.
Oh, he's still pitching a fit about all mods being twatwaffles and what not. *shrug* Despite what he is desperate to believe about me, I did not ban him.
Thanks, Tim. I am. It's been an amusing day.
*shrug* Not my word, BK.
Wait, he was banned?
That's pretty funny!
Apparently so. He got on BHB to claim I did it cuz I was so 'butthurt' over this. Endmaster wrote an amazing short story about it, by the way.
Must have missed that. Saw the story, though.
I mean, it's not funny that he was BANNED, per se, but more like banned over practically nothing.
Well, there was the whole "suggestions to me on slitting my wrists" thing, generally a big no-no here... so is deliberately trying to troll a mod, really... but iavatus has a history of saying nasty things about site staff. *shrug* Honestly, I'm not surprised, but this was a weird note to go out on.
... Oh... OH, THAT'S WHAT HE MEANT BY HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL.
What I mean is nothing would have happened if it didn't start there.
I dunno how it did, but I guess he thought you were calling him out.
I told him I wasn't, he didn't even need to take my word for it, but afaik, he still doesn't believe me--I guess he just really wanted a fight.
Eh, I wouldn't worry about it too much.
I just hope it doesn't snowball into another Mardox.
Nor will I.
And... eh. If it does, it does.
It probably will. Just my guess. His comments about people have applied to many. He called me a Warrior Cat, he insulted Raven over her tanks, and many other people. I expect a troll-lol-lolo.
Raven's a guy, and his tanks were cringeworthy at the time. You were a Warrior Cat when those were a thing, and there's "Cat" in your screen-name.
Haha, I hadn't even seen this one. Your repeated bafflement and indignation over being considered a WC fan is frankly hilarious given the name you chose.
The guy who derails writing threads with his tank and gun obsession is yes, a guy. And everyone was insulting him. That thread was solid gold. (I've actually been thinking of archiving all Bucky and End's blurbs and the Kingdom of Cystia stuff somewhere, so it doesn't get buried. Same goes for quiller's Writing Prompt thread, because that had some amazing output from bilbo and iavatus, Steve, and others.)
I'm still unsure what the term 'troll' even means the way Cystians use it, honestly. A guy who in just a few months here wrote several fantastic entries for writing prompt threads, won art from the_quiller, made a lot of progress on a game, helped newbies with technical questions, did extensive beta reading for three entries in the last contest, participated in a collab project, and pretty much has contributed to the site a lot more than, you know..a guy with a name reminiscent of a Warrior Cat, who had a full year head start on him (just as a random example) is dismissed as 'pfft, just a troll' because he got in an argument with a mod?
Which, you know, up until now has never, ever been a thing people got banned for. Much like all the other stuff going on this last month or so mods didn't used to just casually do.
I dunno if Ivy's been officially classified as a troll, but I thought he was banned for randomly being a huge dick.
If "randomly being a huge dick" = bannable offense, then holy fuck, we're going to have like, three, maybe four members left by the time the purge is complete.
Yeah, I'll be super lonely as one of the only remaining site members.
Hating America is against forum rules now, sorry. Have a nice train ride to the camps.
Nah, you're free to hate any country you please, America included, and you're more than welcome to talk about hating on their policies, but spamming the forums with "Death to (country of choice)" is going a bit far. :P
(Enjoying the exercise that comes with jumping to conclusions?)
Hey, be fair. I made one comment when America was specifically brought up, I wasn't spamming it.
Dude, you said it way more than just once. xD
Only once in the thread I was penalized in it for, the other times I was always saying it in context and then saying more as well.
You weren't penalized for saying it only once or in a single thread, though. xD
I always said it both in context, with more to the message and with discrimination rather than just blurting it out in a spam attack. It was more of an ideological theme of "Death to America!" with the aforementioned saying as the Anti-American slogan I would use.
Mm. I can appreciate the fact that you having your own convictions with how the US handles things, and I'm not interested in defending the nation on a personal basis, but you were still repeatedly calling for the death of a country. :P (And it was only five points FFS.) Being anti-American is fine, but discriminatory posts were against site policy... though I suppose that may have changed now.
Yes, but to say "Death to America!" is an ideological opinion in that it's the slogan for an Anti-American ideological position, and one that's not particularly bad given that this site has much worse.
Hey, the point thing doesn't matter to me at all, I didn't bring it up to you then, or ever. Still, when I've been accused of spamming, I feel the need to defend myself.
Oh, I know it doesn't matter to you, otherwise I'm sure you would've said something to me rather than talking about it behind my back. It apparently matters to other people, though.
Is that a claim to I talked behind your back about it, or a slight against other people?
I wasn't being sarcastic. I know you wouldn't, and I also know that other people did. :P
Aw yeah, Steve is the best! I AM THE GREATEST!
You know, you're not exactly standing on firm ground when you have to justify your actions by comparing them to someone else's, especially not when the comparsion is, "Well, at least they were worse!". I mean, you still get arrested for mugging people these days, and I'm sure there's been at least one guy who said, "I could've stabbed them and not taken their money, but at least I didn't do either of those".
The comparison is to people who aren't penalized for their ideological positions, even though their ideological positions are morally worse than mine.
Furries, for instance.
I've actually seen some sick fucks on this site make long-winded arguements supporting animal fuckers. How sick can you be?
Sick enough to actually do the animal-fucking, if some 12 year olds are to be believed.
They'd probably be penalized now, had the mod whodunnit been around at the time and in the mood to push the mod buttons. Or not. The mods here aren't exactly anime-protagonist-cliche-#5-level dedicated to any personal policy or interpretation. The point was made when it was made, that in a general sense it conflicts with what 3J's guidelines were, however hypocritical it may be compared to the past or the future.
Not true. Kiel himself says that saying you hate America and/or their policies isn't against the rules, and there's been supporters of things like shooting children for attempting to border-cross, animal fucking and other stuff that happened with Kiel around.
Let's not forget our resident Stormfronter.
And now I'm not saying this DEFINITELY was the reason because I don't want to open that can of worms, but even if you were being a dick, I understand it must feel weird that the only black guy around gets singled out and made an example of when he has strong political views.
Kiel isn't the one who penalized you, is he? Every mod really seems to have their own interpretation of what the rules are. You shouldn't say, "Death to America" whenever whoever it was is around, because to them, that's a penalizing offense. You shouldn't interject a serious conversation/debate with Madglee with inane jokes, because to him, that's bannable. You should maintain only one account, unless you don't have to. You should refrain from challenging the mods, until you don't have to. Had Kiel been a mod in Berka's place, 80-90% of "The Great Forum Purge" wouldn't have happened.
Kiel doesn't think it's against the rules, but whoever penalized you does/did. 3J said shit would be enforced in the spirit of the rules, and not in the literal sense, so that means the mods are forced to make incredibly subjective decisions.
He is, he's said as much. He also said I was spamming it, which was simply not true. I'd imagine he would've said it wasn't him if it wasn't as well as this. Anyhow, although there was comical exaggeration to the message behind "Death to America!", there's a genuine point and message behind it, and I stand by it, and I wasn't interjecting into a "serious conversation/debate", it was just a general, open forum. I do maintain only one account, and I think that's a pretty odd statement from someone known to make humerous alts. Saying we shouldn't challenge the mods is retarded, because they make mistakes like anyone else, and even then I didn't challenge Kiel or even care about it, others brought it up and I defended myself. If we're going to start saying that someone having a different ideological position to a mod who doesn't like it is grounds for penalizing someone, there's no possible hope for this site.
That's not what I'm saying. I was referring to Coins' banning when I stated that. Coins was being venomous and trolling in general, but none of the mods at the time, (Which, IIRC, only Berka and Madglee were active at the time) and the rules weren't clearly defined. There were the first guidelines, (Which included such antiques as "No swearing" and "Keep your forum content PG-13".) and the only basis Madglee had for banning Coins was for calling Playa a Pothead every other post when Playa and Madglee were discussing marijuana use. Again, the other mod didn't see this as a problem, just annoying. Being annoying, in that particular instance, at that particular time of day, was against the rules. Then it took several shit threads and a whole PM scandal to get Brennon banned, rather than just being banned as an annoying twat.
Likewise, I was PMed after making my first ever Alt to maintain only one account. Pre-mod Berka was very vocal about how using other accounts to impersonate people breaches forum ettiquette, and Madglee gave everyone a serious warning after one breach in particular. Then there were several Sentinels, and then there multiple Mardoxes, and then there were hundreds of Kiels, and then the mods didn't particularly care about them.
Other people have repeatedly told the mods to fuck off in similar ways to Iavatus, and were banned for other reasons.
The Law itself is very broad, very blunt, and made of rubber. The interpretation of the mods is the only thing that has any gravity to it.
I can't speak for Coins banning, but bringing up examples other than me being penalized is irrelevant. Kiel said that me holding anti-American positions was OK, yet still deducted points from me for "spamming", which I didn't do. Sure, there's a level of interpretation, but to say that we're at a point where having opinions other to the mods will get us penalized is to announce the end of the site. I didn't make multiple accounts, or tell the mods to fuck off, or do anything to deserve penalizing. You bringing up other occasions of people being banned or penalizing has nothing to do with this.
Again, that's not the point I'm trying to make. The point is that the rules are not concrete and the law is as the law does. The mods make very subjective decisions based on their subjective defiinitions of things. According to the definitions of other websites, we "spam" and "troll" to degrees that would render 90% of the users banned by most admins. Here, it's much different. It's difficult to discern what trolls or spammers even are without listing specific examples. It's also difficult to explain people's individual offenses without the mod responsible explaining it, which makes it look a lot like somebody just felt like banning Ivy for yelling at Kiel that day, which is what I was saying. Cynical got into a few scuffles with the mods on multiple occasions, and I'm either de-sensitized or he was being just as edgy and obnoxious/vindictive about it. Ivy did this once and got banned, because that's how the mods were feeling and that was their judgment. I'm guessing it was probably because this scuffle had a more bizarrely personal bent than Cyn's, but I honestly have very few ideas as to what got him thwacked. My point has little to do with your penalty in specifics, unless it's compared to other penalties, which also don't have any point on their own.
If your point has little to do with my penalty, you shouldn't have brought it up. the comparison was made because there's positions that are WAY worse than mine, and if the law is seriously stretching to such an insane degree that it's whatever the mods want, then the entire system is broken. We don't have rules deviating to such an extreme that what I did was in anyway deserving of being penialized. if we're entering a system where it's just the mods doing whatever they feel like, than this entire site is broken, and we shouldn't be on it anymore.
I'm saying the mods' judgements are subjective, so what you think is spam might not have been what Kiel thought was spam at the time. The point that there are way worse people who haven't been punished is moot because mods either weren't around at the time, or their interpretation of the rules didn't deem them worthy of penalty when that was happening.
Kiel was around for the other times, so that's not true. There was no way someone could interpret what I said as spam without interpreting half the things in the forums as spam, and that didn't happen.
Ah well, guess I lost the argument, then.
"There was no way someone could interpret what I said as spam without interpreting half the things in the forums as spam"
... xD No way? Even though it did happen? I suppose we disagree on all the possible interpretations and definitions of spam. There's more than one, though.
Also, while I said you are allowed to personally hate a country, (how you feel is your own business) and while you are allowed to talk about hating their policies, (because that's just your political convictions) I'm still not actually okay with people yelling "death to (country)!" even if it's only once.
Saying yelled it unfair, firstly, and secondly, "Death to America" is a slogan like any other. Do you also have an issue with "Death to capitalism"?
You did use an exclamation, which implies yelling. Though, that seems like it's kind of a nitpick either way.
Assuming you mean the states and not the continent, America is a country, and the Americans (you did say your slogan was meant to be anti-American, which would imply the residents as well) are people. Capitalism is merely a system of government. I don't consider the two comparable.
Capitalists are people.Anti American sentiment is, by definition dislike of or opposition to the United States governmental policies, especially the foreign policy practices of the United States, or American people in general". I use it as the former. (Sorry for the sloppy copy and paste job, on phone).
Yes, but capitalism is an idea, and it's only known as an idea. You're only advocating for killings if you say "Death to Capitalists". America is an idea, but it's also a country, and someone can easily come to think that's you're talking about a country when you're saying that.
Someone could also come to think that death to capitalism was a threat again set the ideological group that supported it, and really I don't see how the fact someone could misunderstand my point means i should be penalized for it.
That's fairly different. People don't live in capitalism, so it's death to an idea and nothing else. People live in a country called America, so while you may hate the idea of America, or the land itself, or whatever, and not the people, "Death to America" without any awareness or dissection can be easily misconstrued as advocating for the death of Americans.
^ Precisely. The penguinite gets it.
Well, I mean, pretty sure that Ivy was claiming that Kiel was Attention-Whoring, saying all mods are twatwaffles.
All because Kiel said "Mizal's FriendS" when referring to Multiple Account Man.
Twatwaffles were invented on BHB. Everyone on CYS is a twatwaffle and what's wrong with that? They are delicious.
Isn't it an insulting term, though?
And what about the whole "Cut yourself the right way" thing?
Twatwaffle, an anglicized version of Twathenwafflé, is a term that originated in Western Munster. The term, invented by Swedish and Dutch immigrants heading to the country during the Munster Plantations of 1586 and onwards by King Henry VIII and later his daughters Queen Mary I and Queen Elizabeth II. The term denotes someone of a higher stature who is unfamiliar of the problems of the lower classes. It originally was used to denote one's superior in labour position, although was later turned into a colloquialism, used as a term of endearment whilst holding frustration towards the action of a superior and/or parent or minder.
Oh damn, you're right. I just assumed it was some meme thing, never looked it up before.
Well now I can feel all classy whenever I use it, my English teachers would be proud.
Technically, it's either a Swedish word, or Irish/Swedish Slang, so you English teacher should be scorned.
"cause he got in an argument with a mod?"
*Not the reason he was banned.
What was the reason?
Shall we never know what happened? Shall the spooky mystery forever torment us?
Probably. I demand that Rod Sterling explain all this shit!
You mean Rod Serling?
Imagine, if you will, a universe very much like our own; Normal people going about their day, children playing baseball in the park. Cars making the "vroom vroom" noise. Identical to ours, right?
In this universe, justice is swift and exact. Moderators watch over this plane of existence like a hawk watching it's prey. If someone gets out of line, the iron bitch slap is dealt, and everyone continues their way. These Moderators keep the peace, and are loved by all.
Except a certain few.
Today's story is about that few getting pushed, and pushing back.
The train of thought is leaving Cystia.
The Twilight Zone.
I wouldn't call bitching and moaning about how the "mods r so mean!!!111" in 'secret chats' pushing back though... :D
He seems to be that kind of person from what I've seen.
So I was wondering when he would blow up on here.
Guess that makes you a CYS vet.
Oh my goodness! He's alive!
Its triple j! :D
Kiel managed to drag him out of wherever he came from XD
3J! :D Well, this is an awesome anniversary surprise! It's great to see you, man. ^^ How are you?
I'm pretty good / busy! Miss you guys.
He has returned!
Hmm.....now I've met all moderators. Hello there.
None of the big three, or the others, no.
You're missing TSMpaul and Chocobot.
I'm a little late....
Congratulations on your 4 year anniversary seven days ago... Sorry about necroing the thread.
