A place to sit back, hang out, and talk about anything you'd like.

I just watched Mr.Nobody and I feel mesmerized. I use to have a lot of philosophical movies and series that just changes your perspective on life as you grow. I have forgotten a majority of them now, but there are still an occasional one or two like The Man From Earth,  something sweet like Mary and Max, or even personally for me, Little Manhattan that just send a euphoric reminisce either about your childhood, your dreams, what could have happened or what you wished happened, to what is wonderful about life or what the purpose of it is. There are many that I could name if I could just recall nostalgia at my beckoning.

Well anyway, can you guys name a few books, movies, or anything that had changed your perception of life and/or enlightened your outlook?

Of course this might just be emotional withdrawal from watching that movie. Still, indulge me nevertheless :)

Oh yeah, anime and the like counts too. I definitely know a few that had changed me. Of course, when I say change, I definitely meant Change and not just your favorite movie. For example, you might enjoy The Notebook or Shawkshank Redemption, but that does not necessary count as an actual distorting of your outlook on life.

Wait I withdraw Ninja Scroll as it didn't "change" me. Legend of the Overfiend, an anime, did, though. I was the only one able to watch the whole movie. I remember it being horribly perverse, and for me, that says a lot.

Some fucked up perverse films that are still possessing of intellectual value, that I would recommend, are Requiem for a Dream- you'll likely just feel sad after watching them, and not just because Jared Leto and Damon Wayans got famous from it and now make bad films/music, but because it's genuinely depressing.

Irreversible's just straight up fucked in an oddly beautiful way- watch it on a big screen with surround sound and there's a good chance the camera angle and bass drenched soundtrack will make you feel ill.

I've given 11 nines and 1 ten for movies and Requiem for a Dream is one of my 9's. That really, really says a lot. The average movie gets a 5 or a 6 from me. Requiem was unreal... just don't watch it high.

I still need to get around to watching Requiem for a Dream. I saw Irreversible though. I remember reading that the director was definitely going for that disorienting effect to make the audience feel a little sick as well pairing it up with what was going on in movie.

If you want bizarre art type movies, there's El Topo. It doesn't have anything excessively disturbing per say in it (No 9 minute rape scenes), but it's just weird from beginning to end.

I'd say a lot of Takashi Miike's movies are in the really weird category too, specifically Gozu and Visitor Q.
