No, the story is as perfect as can be asked for.

Weird, I just unpublished it and I have pages numbered 370+. Obviously, they're in order when you create them. So unless I deleted 100 pages, that wouldn't make sense. I'd have to go through and count them, although I can't see how that code could be in error.

i dont understand how thats possible, perhaps some of the very short pages arnt counted for the number 3J is seeing.

Wow, well, this is definitely a site bug! The only way to decide which is right is to manually count.
