So, yeah. IOTG. A story I've been developing and changing and improving for a while now. I've got the world layout, creatures, civilizations, main characters, antagonists, and a basic storyline down for it. The one thing I can't seem to get right is how the characters meet up with each other.

Here's the basics: The story takes place in Ocia, a continent. It's being invaded by Glitches, glowing creatures that infect those they touch. They are trying to take over the continent, and the inhabitants do not like that, so they fight back, but fail miserably. The glitches genocide the inhabitants, forcing those left into hiding. The main characters escape from the glitches and meet up somewhere (Haven't figured this out yet). They form a rebellion and fight against the glitches, gaining allies by finding the hiding inhabitants and befriending scared creatures. 

I'm still trying to figure out how they meet. I thought I'd post it here. Might post the story here someday. These were just my last few braincells trying to put together a post. I've made a shit ton of art for this, too. ;-;

First off, do they genocide the entire continent, or just take over major cities? Because the former seems difficult and time consuming.

But the place they meet would most logically be somewhere that's attracted a lot of other refugees too. A cave or a bomb shelter, or a refugee camp in another country, or a ship they're fleeing on. Hard to get into specifics without knowing anything about your setting (though 'glitches' inplies modern or sc-fi) but just think about the kinds of places groups of people might wind up in in any other disaster. e: think I've got all the fucking autocorrect errors now but it's like every time I look I keep finding more...

They try to kill everything in the continent, only ignoring small, harmless creatures.

Harmless begins at?

Rabbits? Snakes? Rats? Scorpions? 

Anything smaller than a fox they consider harmless.

Do they corrupt plant life, like bushes and trees? Inanimate objects like stones, houses, swords?

Can something be de-Glitched?

There are four major races: Dragons, Xoritians, Northern Hunters, and Guardians. 

They can only corrupt animals and sentient things, not plants or inanimate objects. They CAN infect Sentient Plants and Objects, as there is a Flower Glitch.

The only way to "de-glitch" an infected person/creature, is to kill Glitch 001. That reverts all glitchified people back to normal, if they had been corrupted in the past year. After a year, they can't be returned to normal.

What do the four races look like? What are their cultures like?

Northern Hunters are humanoids covered in black fur with ram-like horns and long snouts. They have sharp teeth and claws. They have four tribes with distinct strengths and weaknesses, and usually fight among each other. When there is a threat that threatens all of the tribes, though, they unite to take it out. All Northern Hunters wear skulls as masks to strike fear into their enemies.

Xoritians are lizard-like, their skin usually a shade of red. They have spikes running down their backs and three-clawed hands and feet. They are warriors, trained from age 9. They use weapons such as swords and spears to fight against enemies. They are allies with the Dragons, since they fear them.

The Dragons are, well, Dragons. They are a jumble of different types of dragons, from hydras to wyverns. Only families share the same appearances. They are immensely powerful in battle, so nobody tries to battle them. The Dragons, though, try to be peaceful and settle things diplomatically.

The Guardians are the cooperation of humans and Diamondheads. They have the most advanced technology, but don't share it with the other empires in fear of them using the technology to fight each other. The other empires don't know about most of the technology they create.

Is the term "Glitch" actually relevant (The world is a computer simulation)?

Is this sci-fi? Fantasy? Modern?

It's fantasy, but all the civilizations don't have technology yet. Only the Guardians have Technology, and it's not very modern. The Glitches were a name I came up with and just flown with. I don't know how to post pictures in here, but I can link a picture.

Then what sort of magic exists in your world?

The only magic can be harbored by the Caveforgers, a tribe of Northern Hunters. They can make potions and enchanted items no other species can. They can't do wizard spells like "Fireball!" though.

 

Alright.

So, no wizards, but stuff like magic fire swords and barrier shields and medallions of healing and stuff like that.

Are there dragons? 

What major races are there?
