Player Comments on Life is Strange: Blood Oath

Going into this I wasn't expecting much. I'm not a Life is Strange fan mostly because of the cringe dialogue and angsty teen tone of the game so a fan fiction based on the source material was bound to be horrendously bad.

I was surprisingly compelled by some of the endings and it seems like you did put some effort into the actual story game itself. I got ending 15 by the way which was the most appropriate. That being said there are some glaring problems which I will get to now. This story is for the most part a carbon copy of the original game Life is Strange.

Don't let the title confuse you this has pretty much the exact same plot. I thought we might be getting some kind of sequel that stands alone from the original but Nah. I mean I could've just played the game itself and gotten most of the outcomes on here which is frustrating. There's also the issue of The First Page which you should have just put in the description of the story game. Don't tell me what the story is about show me! Show me what a jerk Nathan Prescott is or Victoria or how depression affects Kate.

The Show and not tell aspect was one thing I wanted to hit on. Another thing I wanted to mention was you need exposition. Explain who the characters are and why I should be invested in them. do this by showing me their character and the type of people they are. I feel like a fan fiction should do service to the original while standing on its own as an enjoyable story. The author accomplished neither by not adding much that the video game already added and not showing uniqueness by adding an extensive new plot. Also, there is a page that just says this is a new page with no writing on it so you should probably add something here or remove it completely.

The saving grace of the game that kept me from rating it lower than a 4 was the character development between Chloe and Max which was the best part of the story and game and really the core of Life is Strange which you captured the essence of. Even if you borrowed some dialogue from the game to do so it was still amusing.

I would recommend working on the character interactions later on in the story making them seem more developed and your descriptions are vague. You need more description of things. Your world feels bland make it bigger! That's about all I can think of. Now where'd I put the Tylenol?

This story was weird...*Rewind noises*...Nope still weird.

The writing was confusing at times and kind of blocked the flow of the story. The plot was also hard for me to follow. The information was kind of dumped on me and I would have rather had more subtle pointers instead of going,

"Hi I'm a photograpghy student who doesn't know how selfies were made."

"oh no my childhood best friend was shot in the bathroom!"

"oh cool I can rewind time!"

"Ha ha, take that bully! I stole your answer by using time warping for petty gain!"

That's pretty much how the whole thing goes and I didn't like it. The concept was cool but the material was lacking

The spelling and grammar errors are glaring, as well as the pages that literally have nothing on them - I ran into a default "This is a new page." and was very confused. I really recommend you proofread this a bit more...well, a lot more.

Absolute slog to get through.

I’ve played the actual game, and I have to say, I like this just as much! Seriously, if it had the pictures/videos that the app does, it would be wayyy better than the other one.

Hello everyone, I created the game. Thank you for the positive (and negative) comments, I read them all and found them all to be hilarious.

One thing that I am surprised about are the post about links that go nowhere, I can't find any. The only thing I can think of is the interaction with Frank. it's a puzzle where you fail over and over again (because you and Chloe have no social skills.) It's not broken, it's a puzzle you're supposed to solve.

If there are any, please mention them specifically in the comments so I can fix them.

I'm probably gonna make a remake in a few months or so with improved spelling/grammar (How did I get into college?) and maybe more self-aware humor at the cringe in LiS and my own writing. I also wanna make a sequel about Rachel and her mind reading abilities. Thank you for enjoying this lovely cringefest fan-fiction. I had so much fun writing it, and isn't that what counts the most :)

Okay, so I have a lot to say about this story. As a fan of the original game, I want to commend the beginning of this story. You stayed true to how the game mechanics worked while still balancing it out with your own additional options and story lines. Now, I personally got Romance in the Air ending with Warren. I believe that you did an okay job at tying everything up in a nice bow and the overall plot was relatively sound.

However, I would also like to point out that there are many grammatical errors and some flat dialogues. As the game progressed, I feel that you lost connection with the characters and the actual conversations were a bit... forced/bland. Now, it is still a good and worthwhile read but it definitely needs some editing. It was an enjoyable experience and I am definitely going to go through and get each ending to see what the other possibilities are!

This was bad, but I was still more entertained by it than like, Warrior Cats fanfic or some shit. Still, you really need to double check everything because some links lead to dead pages.

Once you go off the beaten path a little this turns into the funniest fucking thing I've read all week, what a masterpiece.

I got the "Familiar" ending, number 10.

Very gay (this was clearly written by a gay guy) but I liked it. It's too hard to properly romance Chloe or Warren though, fickle assholes. Cool game.

I got ending 6 "Roadtrip." Warren's story is betterthan Chloe's but needs one more draft, my ending had spelling errors.

My advice: Just delete Chloe's story, its not bad just unorigional, I didn't even finish it.

Keep Warren's story but make it a little longer and fix the spelling and format.

I liked the idea. It was a darker take on LiS but in practice I'm not so sure. There is now an image in my head of Warren and Nathan fighting to the death naked while covered in Victoria's blood with Jefferson aiming a gun at them. It got really homoerotic and weird (but it was funny)

I actually liked it (Although I'm a fan of the game so I'm a little biased.) I played through it twice, I went with Chloe once and Warren the second time. Chloe's path was my least favorite as it is a straight retelling of the game but I did like that signing the guestlist actually got you into the party (unlike the real game)

I liked Warren's path better, I can tell that 90% of your effort went into that one. You still have a lot of work to do. Don't let the negative reviews get you down, I liked it and would play again.
