How do I create a character creator with scripting? Here are the things I want to add:

  • Hobbies
  • Gender
  • Fighting techniques
  • Element
  • Name

Learn how to keep track of a variable and all questions will be answered. (You can consult the help articles on this.)

Pro Tip: Don't. If you want to customize a character, it takes a lot of work for not a tremendous amount of reward. Sure, it can be done, but it really is a lot of work. That said, if you're going to do it, you really need to use numbers. Something like a name is just enormous piles of work for no reason at all (really, no one is super-impressed when in your game, the game mentions your own name just because you typed it in). If you must track stats like strength and health, that's not nearly as difficult and can create some fun effects.

Yeah, realistically, she should just try writing a game about a single established character first, and then come back and add the rest of this and any alternate paths if she still feels it's worth it afterwards.

Honestly, your best bet is to simply write a complete story first. No variables, no scripting, just quality writing with a character that shows change and development with a beginning, middle, and end. It doesn't have to be tens of thousands of words, either, just complete. Finishing one story will be an accomplishment!
