I found Voldy on Youtube:

Voldy in his natural habitat.

(EDIT—May not be safe for work if you or your coworkers think gorillas getting it on is offensive)

Interesting that this got moved to its own thread. Well, here's something just as fascinating. This little chimpanzee mimes a certain rated x action to get an older female to agree to satisfy his sick urges. See about 1:00 into the video. Astounding ape intelligence.

... I guess CYS is just really into monkey porn now. Meh.

I listened to that entire song...

This guy carries a big stick to use as a makeshift portable pole to climb on.

And about 1:40 in these gibbons walk like people. Nay, like bigfoots.

Gibbons walking upright

This is not porn. I approve. ^_^

This isn't an ape, but I think it's the cutest thing ever. This poor exasperated monkey trying to teach the human how to crush leaves, but the human just isn't getting it:

... I am absolutely fascinated. Why does the little monkey want to human to crush the leaves? What does he gain from it? Is this like some kind of bizarre monkey ASMR? O.O

LOL. Maybe, but I think it more likely he's trying to teach the human how to make the leaves bite sized to eat them, or maybe to rub the leaves on his body as insect repellent/temperature regulation (some monkeys do this; I've read that this kind of monkey uses crushed millipedes or ants, or urine, or anything else with a strong smell, for that purpose).

Cupichin monkeys also do something else pretty extraordinary:

It takes it about three minutes, but delicious nut is its reward.

I have been observing this thread with such disdain, but fine, this one is good.

Read that as Irrational Primate Rescue at first, which seems as good an explanation as any for the leaf obsession. Maybe he just likes the sound.

That could be it, too. The crunchy goodness is peaceful.

I think he took Friendly Forest Critters a little too literally.

Monkeys have been terrorizing residents and attacking babies in Japan..

That was like a month ago though, it's possible they've stopped them by now, and it's also possible the monkeys have won. Someone should probably go and check.

"Of course, we could work it out if there were a line-up of monkeys, but in this case, we can't say for sure if there are one, two, or several monkeys."

So they can't establish who the perps are. But most likely this is a well-organized guerrilla military campaign.

The beginnings of the second inter-species war...

Correction, third inter-species war. (don't watch if you don't want to see monkeys bullying an otter followed by an entire Mexican drug cartel of otters mercing a single monkey, trying to drown him with shear numbers.)

... More like gorilla military! ^_^
