So... It's Preptober... Hands up who's doing NaNo this year? ^_^

I'll take that as a "never in a million years"

The last time I had anything like a serious interest, their forum was filled with bitches writing werewolf porn and a bunch of quivering autists having mental breakdowns over the site design being changed.

There were also serious charges leveled against the devs for some mildly snarky site messages you'd get when your daily word count was empty. Writers just didn't feel safe anymore. :(

Mildly snarky? The fiends!!! O.O

Still, you can do NaNoWriMo without the forums. As if you'd actually have any time to talk to people.

There's a forum?

Huh.

I did it a few times and never knew.

Not I, said the owl. I took on a couple months of freelance work instead. It's just some technical writing, but it's interesting AND they're paying me, so I'm willing to skip NaNo.

How about you, what are you prepping?

Oh, awesome! What's the job?

And I'm going to try and get some more work done on Villains. I started it awhile ago but writing's been going pretty slow for... Well... Years. Hoping that NaNo will help me to get a significant chunk out of the way at least.

Nice! I hope it helps! I recommend word sprints, that's how I hit 50K last year.

I'm just writing some documentation for a project that will remain nameless. ^_^

Who needs NaNo when you have CYS contests?

Jokes aside, the one time I attempted Nano, I wrote about 30k words before giving up. I might be wrong, but sometimes it seems they advocate for 'speedwrite any random thing and edit it later' to reach the wordcount and it didn't feel like much of an accomplishment. Whereas, whenever I take part in CYS contests, I'm able to churn out around 100k words in a month so there's definitely a system I prefer lol.

But best of luck with Preptober and your NaNo entry! :)

I still stand by November being the worst possible month for this anyway. Or at least the fall moving into the holidays has always been a stressful and more time consuming part of the year for me.

Very much agree. Especially since I work in retail and November is easily the second busiest month of the year. Loads of overtime. Not much time for anything but work. >.<

30k words in a month is pretty impressive though. I'd be more than happy if I managed that. ^_^

Tbf, it's much easier to write a lot when you're a teenager with no real responsibilities aside from getting good grades.

Wait... Getting good grades was possible as a teenager? I wish I had known that back then.

Nah, might check out the resources subforum throughout the month though.
