I'm male myself, but I do have NB friends, and I think that a "nonbinary" or "I do not wish to say" option in the gender select on profiles wouldn't go awry.

You don't have to specify your gender.

There's even an option to not specify.

It's not like anyone can see it anyway.

I guess it counts. This might be a harsh, hostile, and spiky site where you'll be viciously maimed if your writing is bad but at least it's equal with regard to gender. Whether you're a he/him, a she/her or a they/them... we'll make fun of your story for being crappy.

As long as that box exists I'm all for filling it entirely with insulting options. It's not even visible to anyone else looking at the profile, so really we're just giving them the tools to troll themselves.

Okay, I can see the comedy potential in a "Fill in the blank" option that lets you write whatever you want there.
