Player Comments on How long would you survive in the Hunger Games?

I played every Hunger Games story I could find on this site and this is the best one, though unfortunately still unfinished like nearly all the others. I love that it's in the 74th so it's influenced by canon (as are we, the players) but you're not literally playing Katniss. The core characters show up and have most of their same characteristics, though Peeta is characterized strangely and there's one story branch where Clove allies with the boy from 6, which is weird. I really like the wide variety of choices we can make. Some of the endings are fun and creative, like the one where you climb a tree and accidentally find another tribute, or the one where you taunt Thresh and he kills you. And I love that in most branches, if you attack Clove and 6M when they sleep beneath your tree, Clove kills you with the throwing knives, but if you take the knives from the Cornucopia, then attack them both under your tree, you can kill both of them because she doesn't have her signature weapon. I love that your choices can influence the story in that way!
My only complaints would be:
a) it's unfinished, obviously
b) sometimes the items in inventory don't work when they should, like the backpack says "use to find out what's inside" but every page afterward won't let you use the backpack, and some of the scenes where you encounter another tribute ask if you want to fight or run away, but won't actually let you "use" any of the weapons in your inventory so you have to run away
c) the tribute count is very inconsistent; I don't know every single possible branch but I noticed in one branch, if I kill Foxface the tribute count is 11 but if I don't the count is 10, which is the opposite of what it should be. Or after you kill Clove and 6M, the count stays at 10 and doesn't change. Things like that.
d) as I said, I love that taking the knives changes the fight with Clove. What I don't love is that taking the bow and arrows does nothing similar. There are two branches that end up with people shooting a bow and arrow at you: if you sleep on the ground and run out of your lean-to, they shoot at you, and I think if you kill Clove then stay with the bodies, Thresh and the 6F show up and shoot at you. Neither of these changes if you take the bow and arrow; they still shoot at you. But this breaks canon, since Katniss says her bow is the only one the Gamemakers put into the arena, so if you have the bow no one else should be able to shoot arrows at you.

Regardless, I enjoyed playing it. I only wish it was finished so there was more of it!
