Player Comments on The Poem
Comment: This game is extremely difficult for me to rate. The opening seems promising, we will be fighting for our life in trying to understand riddles from a poem. The items have stylish pictures and the poem sounds nice, but the problem is that no real hints are offered as to where we should even start with coming up with an answer. At one point I felt ‘jadfoijuprhnheuwqefhob jqfebldfwhjfehdfw’ could have been the poem and it would not make much difference.
I think for a game to be decent, it has to be playable, and this is basically nothing more than a set of riddles, and one which offers no obvious direction as to how to approach it. Maybe if the author had some backstory so that, when the reader reached the story, the past events linked to the actual solution, this would be a more feasible story. It was nice that the author included a walkthrough so I could understand how he came up with the solution, although I still have no idea how the answer to Question 1 makes sense, which puts me off this game a fair bit as it’s the first impression a reader has.
I think this game falls into the trap of making riddles too ‘clever’ for their own good, although the author deserves some credit for making the pattern somewhat similar for each riddle, to the point where I actually managed to get the last riddle correct on my own. I’m going to rate this 3/8 on the basis that the riddles actually got more feasible as they went on, with the last two striking a good balance of being tough without making you despair too much.

Yeah, sorry for making such a difficult game. I had to use my own walkthrough for puzzles 2 4 and 5.

Yeah, is it even possible to finish this game with the "RIGHT" solution? Like many others who commented, a game has to be playable, and in this case, and the solution simply is not determinable without any further hint besides the poem itself. I would advise you provide more hints and clues through searching the room to make it more playable. But the poem itself is a nice piece of art work painted by words, and I enjoy the idea of incorporating a poem into game play. If you don't mind, please also play and help rate my game: http://chooseyourstory.com/story/yay-or-nay~3f
Thanks!

Very thorough, but very challenging. The problem with this story is that it is just too long and the readers quit before they finish because it is too complicated. After all, only 31 people have been able to finish so far, and that number probably won't increase much.

Some clearer hints would be nice. This is more cryptography than riddles but it's still a puzzle. A very, very hard puzzle unless you were a code breaker in WWII

"Did you truly interpret the puzzle, or did you just guess?"
This is vaguely reminiscent of a certain game I played that couldn't remember which gender of cat I was.

I suck at these kinds of riddles, but I actually got one right on my own... only one. Thanks for posting the walk-through, so I could enjoy the full game. This game was very challenging, but I'm sure if the ending was worth it... Just my opinion. Anyway, I enjoyed it either way just for the challenge. Good entry and good game for 10 days time, especially considering the scripting... jeez. Lol :)

The writer of this game may have overestimated our ingenuity, or there's a very obvious reference that flew right over my head, because I couldn't even solve the first puzzle based on the clues you gave. I didn't even know where to start. If the riddles only get harder from there, then I doubt I would have been able to solve any of them.
So I'm afraid all I got out of this game was a slight migraine and a vague sense of frustration at the condescending tone at the end.
