So I take the shot in less than ideal circumstances and everyone flees the compound? Not exactly very realistic, had you spent a bit more time refining a better ending I could see this being an 8/8.

This is not worth a comment, but I am posting it anyway. First of all, it needs to be longer. Second, it needs to be more challenging. It was almost as if you wrote this just to pass the time. If so, you should have deleted it by now.
