Player Comments on The Last At-Bat
Although I would not consider myself the biggest baseball fan, or what all actually, this story-game certainly made me intrigued to perhaps watch videos of the sport.
Why do I say that? Because what is described here is an intense game in which the stakes are high, and the reader's choices being one that is prevalent for the victory of their very team. I feel that the writing is gripping in that sense, and the pictures that accompany certain plays and scenes give this story an almost cinematic feel.
This game is on the shorter side of things, but it's exactly as advertised by the title. So whether one is a super fan or perhaps a casual one of the sport, or perhaps not a fan at all, the writing that is here isn't egregious or dull. What is here is some intense writing with a clear goal for the player to achieve by the end page.
I would say that the urgency that is present, certainly made achieving the best possible result at the very end all the more gratifying for me as the reader.
Not a bad story at all. Kudos!

Well, this was pretty good. I would like to point out that many players hit well in areas that aren't necessary down the center of the plate. In addition, the (other teams) pitcher had used just breaking balls and fastballs (as far as I can tell). This, however, was not the case on one page (where the final strike occurred) in which the pitcher used a slider or a changeup depending on the choice. I find this odd due to the pitcher's previous choices, but that might just be me. I did find it annoying that deciding to look at the pitch or swing at the pitch often changed the pitcher's type of throw.
Anyway, the writing was somewhat linear at time, but it had enough branches to be fine. I also like how you took the time to put in the pictures (even though they all weren't the Cardinals).
The game was simplified somewhat from the countless complexities of the Major Leagues, but I'd be rather bored if all you did was speak of those complex things. (It would take away from the action.) The action is what I liked the most about this storygame. It was fast paced and evoked the quickness that MLB is trying to create under its new rules. I hope you continue writing here.

It was alright. Some spelling and punctuation errors. The pitching needs a bit of work. Nothing really special here.

Well done, I too know nothing of baseball other than it involving people hitting balls with a bat and running in circles thereafter. That said, this game did a great job of capturing the feel of a highly visceral sport through words and images, which is highly appreciable. I would however suggest that you put more effort into the endings, an 'epilogue' style ending would fit nicely into this game, otherwise you're told it's all over (for better or worse) in about four lines, which doesn't feel satisfactory. Excellent production for a first story-game, looking forward to something larger from your next one.

I don't know a single thing about baseball. I don't know how to play it, I don't know how it works, I don't know why people like it. We don't even have this sport in my country.
I really loved this game. It was well-polished, felt like I was really playing the game, and I felt motivated about wanting to win for my team. The use of a pictures was a bonus and I found this surprisingly endearing.
I found no real problems with this game apart from perhaps one page, where you can choose to click "Look" forever and ever and it takes you back to the same page, but that's just very trivial.
I played it through the first time and became a hero. I played through it a second time and got booed by an angry mob as I bowed my head in shame. Some of it was luck, some of it was controlled by me.
All in all, thank you for making a baseball game which is fun even for non-baseball players.
