House-Sitting

Everyone else calls Edmund Blackwell eccentric. His friends, the people in town, his brother, everyone else who's ever met him. They're probably right. To them, he's, well, Edmund Blackwell. The famous explorer of the ancient lands! They often remark in whispers that he probably contracted foreign illnesses one too many times, or that perhaps he's ben cursed with madness by some long-dead Egyptian king.

You don't know. To you, he's just Uncle Edmund. And that's probably why you're his favorite relative. And because you're his favorite relative, he's asked you to watch over his 300-year-old mansion for the weekend while he's off visiting a friend in Prague. Of course you accepted. The house is amazing... and you're getting paid, so why not?

You arrive at the gorgeous English manor late in the afternoon. You exchange a few quick words with your uncle- some directions and cautions, mostly- before he's off to the airport. Typical. The man can't stay in place for longer than a minute or two. After that, you head up to your bedroom to unpack.

But as soon as you close the door behind you, there's a sharp clicking noise. You turn around in horror... and find that the door has automatically locked itself. You don't have a key. You didn't even know that this door locks.
