Player Comments on The Consequences of Boredom
I'm saying this about an awful lot of the storygames in this competition, but this is definitely one I'd be interested in seeing expanded upon. I did find it a bit hard to read, unfortunately, due to the constant switching between tenses, which did keep throwing me out of the story.
I thought the concept was quite an interesting one, and I would have liked a bit more of an opportunity to learn more about the player character and the relationship between the two friends. There was a bit of information dumping about the friendship, which I felt could have been shown more through interactions. And the very first choice (when going to speak to the person who started the rumour) felt a bit...odd to me? First of all, I chose to go and speak to the person alone, only to freeze up...but I didn't notice any foreshadowing about this possibility. And then, when choosing to take one of the friends (I've forgotten their names, unfortunately), the player character seemed to just zone out during the entire conversation. Having said that...zoning out like that isn't entirely unrealistic, but it would have been good for more of the conversation to be shown rather than skipped over.
Trying to find the bird was a bit more interesting, and there were some nice moments where I got to know a bit more about the player character, even if I can't say much about the friends. And I can definitely relate to being bored and doing something that seems to offer even a little escape, so that definitely worked well in this storygame. I just would have liked some more depth to the characters.

Thara has a sharp style that I always appreciate. But good lord I hate school based games. And all my girlfriends seem to be the same character to me.
But! I like the fantasy/fairytale element with the sharp juxtaposition of an angsty teenaged girl’s Whatever, this is dumb outlook. I think this could go farther with a more detailed fantasy setting. Like the protagonist being thrust into an entire fantasy world and being bored by it.
