Player Comments on American Outlaws: The Wild Bunch
This story-game was simply stellar, and the writing was nothing short of remarkable. It seems there's just something vastly entertaining about being a rebel. The quality of this series remains outstanding and doesn't miss a beat at all, because as it stands this story seems to have no issue with keeping up with it's predecessors in the enjoyment aspect of things.
I enjoyed that there seemed to be no shortage of impactful choices available to be chosen by the reader. You could say that each decision had to have some careful consideration behind it, because one wrong move on your behalf could often be disastrous and cut your career short in the worst of scenarios. I believe that you did a wonderful job in capturing the constant feeling of danger that one would feel when leading such a dangerous life on the run from those that either want you apprehended or dead.
The setting and overall premise entertains from the very start, and the story that plays out is one that never seems to have a single dull moment. From the beginning this is a very innovative game that captures your interest and makes you want to see how far you can go while the stakes and odds against you only seems to rise with each thrilling robbery and heist. With that in mind I feel that this story-game offers some incredible replay value which is also a trait that's shared with the games before this one in this entertaining series.
In short this is a storygame in which I feel Will's writing truly shines, and it is also one that serves as an example of the lingering feeling that one can attain from reading something quite fun. It's a feeling that I always seem to find myself having when reading the works of Will.
Now for my score:
GUNFIGHTS is 10.
INJURED is 0.
KILLED is 0.
ROBBERIES is 15.
SCORE is 25500.
I find it rather impressive that even for a game in which you play the character of an outlaw in a dangerous group of other outlaws, you're able to remain something of a pacifist in a way for the most part if you play your cards in a certain fashion. It's quite amazing that this story-game provides you with different ways in which you're able to play in subsequent reads of this adventure.
Thank you for the amazing story-game, Will.

A great sequel and Edutainment game!
Definitely interesting to see how a bunch of lawmen ended up becoming fugitives. What made me surprised about this is that they probably wouldn't have been so if people didn't treat them as such because of their family. Being treated like criminals by the people you're sworn to protect, and then lose your job/end up wanted simply over petty offenses? It's not hard to see how the Dalton family got a "fuck it, might as well" mentality.
It was also interesting to see how Bill Dalton went from being a law-abiding citizen, even after the gang was formed, to a gang leader after the Coffeyville incident. Although considering his failure to pull off any significant robberies, it may be inferred that he probably should have stuck to being a lawyer.
In the end, I joined Arkansas Tom on a robbery, and after we got caught and he wanted to do it AGAIN, I said no and ended up passing away the last of the gang who evaded justice.
By the way, that was a nice touch. As Dan Dalton is a fictional character, I appreciate the liberties taken to see to it that he turned himself in on the last day of the century and died on July 4th. Beautifully crafted moments like that only added to the overall narrative and ended the game on a high note.

Story was good you can actually feel their emotions when they were betrayed when people found out that fair Brothers we're Outlaws and mostly truly you will actually just feel sorry for them.

This is definitively one of the best storygames I've seen on the site. I'm not much of a creator myself, but I still know how much time and effort goes into making one of these. This is even better than all of your other American Outlaws games. THere were some grammar mistakes here and there, but other than that I think that this is the #1 storygame I've ever read.

Great game although as an outlaw group the Doolin-Dalton gang was pretty feeble compared to the successes of the James-Younger gang.

American Outlaws: The James Gang was one of the first stories I read on this site and I'm glad it got a sequel. It was just as fun as the first time to go through the history of famous American outlaws. Keep up the good work, Will.

I don't have any feedback to give, because I'm half awake and running off of caffeine, but you should really look into making a longer story game along. I think you'd be really successful with it.

Just like the James Gang, this was really good. I thoroughly enjoyed this and would like to see more of your work as soon as possible.
As a sidenote, I would like to praise your work on ''Hunting The Ripper'' too. That storygame was simply outstanding, in many, many ways.

When I opened the Newly created Storygame Page and saw the New American Outlaws Story, I was overjoyed and tough Christmas came early this Year. I read through the Story in one go and I kinda got in an argument with my boss because I should be working ( You're supposed to Work at your Job... Fascinating right?)
American Outlaws: The Wild Bunch is an enthralling read and a very enjoyable and well written Story.
But (the big 'but' everything has) I liked the First one a little bit better. This story lacked The ultimate strategy of "shoot first, ask later" of The James Gang. Now it fells like you are coward who hides, turns tail and runs all the Time.
I Rate 7/8
I enjoined this Story and I recommend it to anyone, despite genre preference.
PS: I anyone cares
