Player Comments on Hansel and Gretel's Great Escape

I enjoyed this, but I feel that there was some wasted potential with this storygame. It really felt like a retelling of a fairytale, one with minimal changes at that. Yes, there was a GPS used instead of bread crumbs, and yes, the woman planned to do something else rather than eat the children, but those changes didn’t feel like they were enough.

So much more could've been done to truly give this story a modern twist, rather than only change minimal things of the original tale. It certainly wouldn't of hurt to see a bit more originality.

Also, I ran into some grammatical issues such as using 'women' rather than 'woman' in some instances. There was other slight mistakes in grammar, but that one in particular is what stood out to me as I read. Don't be afraid to read over your story and proofread if need be, because while grammar isn't everything, it is rather important and something that a reader will notice.

Now for the good, I liked that you added the choice to either play as Hansel or Gretel, and while the differences of each path weren't major, it still was a rather nice addition to this story.

In the end, this was a rather interesting spin on a old fairytale, but one that I felt was missing something to truly make this stand out on it's own.

It's a sad story. I've ever heard about this story, but I haven't ever read about this. Such a poor Hansel and Grentel. I hope they will be safe.

This game had fun plot twists and playful ways to escape. But I suggest you could add more details and it could be a little longer.

This was an interesting adaptation of the original story. There was so much more you could have done with it. It was the same story, but without all of the interesting parts (the oven and the cage, the cannibal witch). There were a few spelling errors, such as shiny stones being called shinny stones, and whatever “wan” was. There were also run on sentences, which could be easily corrected with a period or comma. The story was also very linear. There was really only one ending. You attack the lady and drive her car away; anything else leading to death in the woods. Overall, this was a cool twist on a classic story, but there was definitely more that you could have done, instead of just adding GPS, cell phones, and cars to the original story. 3/8. With more work it could easily be rated higher.

This is the first story game I have actually finished. I was a little sad at how short it is, and the spelling could be better, and I kind of laughed to myself at the ending, but I really appreciate the time that went into this and the idea is a good one.

Good work, apart from being a fantasy rather than a school based story this is exactly what choose your own adventure stories are all about :) Top marks if it had been longer or you had fused a couple of fairy tales together but still an excellent story.
