Player Comments on How Horror-Like of You, I Guess

This storygame, considering its low rating, actually had some interesting ideas and wasn’t a complete pile of crap, which, to be honest, is what I was expecting. It still wasn’t amazing, though. The premise of a quiz show with potentially deadly consequences for the participant is a decent one, and while it was a little funny at times, it definitely could have done with improvement in this department.

Probably the biggest problem with this game is its lack of meaty writing. All pages are a few lines each, if that, and it really feels like each section has been rushed over. If you added a few obstacles or a few more choices here and there to lengthen the story, you could have included more jokes or humorous scenes, possibly setting up the reader for bigger jokes, all while providing a decently lengthy experience. The quiz (which I felt was a little too nonsensical, even for such a ridiculous TV show) could have been more than one question too. With how short it is currently, I really can’t rate it as high as I could have if you had spent a bit of time to write in more detail, both in terms of events and descriptive writing.

I’m puzzled as to why you would put this in the School-Based category, and not Everything Else or maybe Horror. Did you even look through all the options for categories?

Unlike most other authors who get low ratings for their storygames, I feel like you have some potential for writing better quality stuff. Your writing was coherent and actually had a relatively grammatically correct style. You had some good ideas but didn’t do them justice in this story. Please put some more effort and time into your storygames in the future, because I feel that you can improve.
