Player Comments on How much do you know about Speedrunning?
It wasn't a very good quiz and the constant use of opinions during the seemingly informative quiz gotten tiresome.

The facts were nice, but if you don't know much about it they make no sense at all.

This was a fun test. I had to go back only once so my real score should be a 9/10. Anyway, I really enjoyed how you added facts about the answers after getting them right. They were very fascinating. Good work.

Nice to see you took my advice. Update made the game a lot better and I added an extra point to the score accordingly. ^_^

Yes, it is a quiz. Need you say more? Yes, yes you do. While clearly you know a lot about speedrunning, and I am sure there are a large number of people who also know about speedrunning, there are likely even a larger number of people who have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about here. This first page would be a great place to jump right in and explain it. This is your chance to tell others about the thing and spread knowledge to all who visit the site. So you could take this first page and add an entire paragraph that describes speedrunning: what is it? Who says that’s what it is? Does anyone else disagree? Why do people do it? What makes it popular? Do more people watch it than participate in it? Why do they do that? This would not only educate people about speedrunning, but could also help people decide if they want to click that button and read the quiz that you’ve set up.
I like that you made some adjustments based on Avery’s feedback. Indeed, it is a longer and better with 10 questions, though it is still pretty short. It is a little harder to provide feedback on quizzes simply because they are what they are: questions followed by answers. I like that after the first question you provided a bit of rationale around the correct answer. You could do that even more, and you could even do that on pages where the reader is wrong. Instead of just writing, “Wrong, go back,” you could describe what thing they just picked so the reader could tell why that’s the wrong answer.
But hey, hopefully this one will survive a bit more and be more successful than all your other attempts at writing here. This could be a good start towards stories that people like and read here. Oh, and you could probably remove the parenthetical phrase from the title, that just makes the title extra-long and the button extra wide. You could add a note in the description saying that you updated it (and include when you updated it and what you added for readers who had already read and rated your story). Good luck!

You know, I’ve always wondered how much I knew about speed running… And the answer is nothing. Absolutely nothing at all. (Turns out I’m pretty good at guessing though.)
Despite the fact that I know nothing whatsoever and have no interest at all on the subject matter, I’d say this was a pretty solid quiz (for people who actually care about speedrunning at least.) The spelling and grammar were both pretty good. Don’t think I spotted a single mistake actually, which is quite impressive, since even the best writers will always slip up sometimes. (To be fair, there weren’t exactly a lot of words… But all the words I did see were spelled correctly, which was nice and soothing on my grammar-nazi eyes.)
The random facts you added in were actually kind of interesting. (I honestly couldn’t think of a more frustrating game to speedrun than Pokemon Red and Blue, what with the painfully long time you have to wait to run away whenever you bump into random unwanted Pokemon in the grass.) That said, I do think it would’ve been better and more consistent if you added facts like that to every page. Maybe a little blurb about Tom Votava and his many impressive speed running achievements, and what the current record is for Super Mario Bros and who holds it. Stuff like that.
As for faults, I think that with quizzes it’s generally better to set it up so that the player only finds out their score at the end, if only to make it more difficult to cheat. Also, five questions for a quiz really doesn’t feel like enough. I feel like a quiz like this should be ten questions minimum. Maybe you could dig around for some more obscure speed-running facts and expand on the game later.
