Player Comments on Silent Spire
It's hard to have a problem with any game that ends with a bit that includes the phrase "squelching of maggots." I was not aware that maggots squelched. TIL.
What do we have here? We have a lot of tiny paragraphs, one after the other, that's what we have, and if you can get past that, you have an exciting bunch of gantlet-style battles. Which is the preferred spelling to "gauntlet" unless you are talking about that game where wizard needs food badly.
"You fall to the floor, yet another corpse for the pile, but a satisfied one." That's a good line to end on for one of the failed paths. And the failed paths are pretty much all entertaining, which is a good thing, since there are a lot of them. This story teaches us that if you try and try and try and perfect your strategy, you can climb the spire and defeat the final evil.
However, that is a lie, because I have tried to Slay the Spire, with the Silent, no less, and I have not been able to. So I think my point is that this storygame seeks to allow you to have all of the fun of Slay the Spire but with a back button for when you mess up. And looking at it from that perspective, it succeeds, aside from the part about "all the fun of Slay the Spire."
I enjoyed reading it. I chose wrong on my first playthrough *every single time* and I'm still not sure how you managed that.

This was not a bad story by any means. In fact, I enjoyed how what I've experienced felt more action-y than some games I have experienced thus far. Usually, I'm more fond of things that are more narrative heavy, but when action is done well, and is written well, then it certainly hooks me in to what I am reading.
I say this, because some of the battles didn't just end in one choice, so they felt like intense encounters in which even if you had chosen correctly once, the challenge that stood still had to be conquered by the reader.
This felt like I was experiencing a dark-souls play-through, but in CYS form. With how high in quality those games are in my opinion, this is meant as high praise for the writer of this story-game.
I wouldn’t mind another adventure, with more narrative focus, but definitely without any of the action that is already here being sacrificed.
Not bad at all, Corgi.
Hats off to you.

I didn't care about the character much since they had little background or thoughts revealed in the story. I think if it was less gauntlet style and could slow down a bit to provide character background, I could give it a higher score.

This story is like a carnival ride of bloody action and dark lore. Like many rides, if you stray from the single track you're set upon, you find death. I'll say it was atmospheric for the short ride it was.
