I was thinking that just like how we get notifications for PMs, the same could happen with forum posts, Ex: USER has posted on you forum. 

Basically this has been suggested many times so now it is up to whims of the creator of this site(alexp) to whether this will be implemented....

To be honest, I want this feature back.  I could've sworn we had something like this a few years ago, and I highly doubt it was my imagination.

And no, they weren't duel notifications.

Not that I remember and I was a member a year before you.

Also I would hate getting a notification of somebody responding to my post. Maybe if we had a list of threads that we had recently posted in (say up to 10) in "My Stuff" called Recent Threads or something then I would be fine with that.

But no notifications from posts please.

I must've been seriously tripping out then, because I remember there was a notification that went somewhere along the lines of :

"Someone posted on a thread." or something like that.  Oh well, whatever.

There used to be a non-functional checkbox by every thread that said it would keep you updated, but never actually would.

It may have functioned circa 2006.

Funny, I wasn't here 2006, but it worked once or twice for me...
