Questions about a storygame? Thoughts on Eternal? Any other IF you're playing out there?

I do see the capacity for at least two more expansions and a lot more filler content.

SPOILERS UP THE FUCK AHEAD.  STFU AND GO FINISH THE STORY BEFORE READING ON.

The first thing is to actually complete the Zealot path and remove some of the deaths when you go down the rabbit hole with your Zealot friends.

The second I could see right after the Professor leaves you.  Instead of doing anything he wishes, you live among the humans.  You don't care for the Church, the Wolves, nobody, except for the actual laymen.  That, or some other interaction with humans (perhaps you see the caravan earlier on and live with the nomads?)

Filler paths with Darla and Cecilia.  Cecilia, to me, appears just like a thirsty bitch (literally) fascinated with your being a vamp.  Perhaps you could play on a bit more with her obsession and make her more insane if you didn't turn her into a ghoul earlier, or perhaps you could up your relationship with Darla and piss Cecilia, causing her to go against you at some point in time.

You could make optional paths actually influence how characters work.  Gideon could avoid trying to fight you, or you not talking with Ragnor could possibly piss him off when he finds out you're ghouling people in the city.  Or was it Gideon that liked people?

Filler plots with Allen and other young-bloods.  I didn't really care when they died, tbh.  Just a little "oh, look this n00b got kickscopp'd, k den" and then you're back on the path of revenge.

I could also suppose you could follow the Professor's word much earlier on and off him even before you part from him and put on a totalitarian regime style of rule where ghouling is a privilege and requirement for joining your nihilist party in your epic quest for making another perfect vamp to succeed you.

Alternatively, you could try and fail to preserve everyone, bonding and losing everyone you know and love gradually to their inherently unsociable and extremist ideals.

There's a lot left in this world to explore, really.

Sorry, I'd give a larger response if I was less tired haha, but I'm happy that you took the time to critique my game :D

Indeed, I realize that I left out a lot of possible choices in the Vengeance path, since I mostly just wanted a (hopefully) powerful, somewhat linear story for the contest that focused on my writing rather than choice. I put in a lot of loose-ends that I pretty much just ended by killing off some characters, which I admit was pretty lazy as an author. Currently trying to have the Zealot path be a much more choice-driven work, though. We'll see.

Also find it funny that it seems like everybody turns Cecilia into a ghoul XD. Anyway, she dies at the end for other reasons. Can't remember it too well, but doesn't it say she was killed?

Nope, she dies a brittle old woman.

Outlasting your comrades doesn't necessarily mean they die of old age haha.

Well, someone died holding a brittle hand to yours.

If you're gonna try to block out the words you can at least do it all the way man.

I think either Swift misread or I just don't remember it well enough. Honestly can't figure out what s/he's referring to.

I mean, there are characters who die next to you, but none from ageing. Alas, probably my fault for not putting in sidequests involving them, perhaps making them more memorable.

This epilogue happens when I "became one with Cecilia", went out to the uprising in the South, handled it myself, talked with Gideon, killed Gideon, pursued the professor, and ghouled him.  As far as I can tell, this doesn't change if I didn't ghoul Cecilia either.  Along the way to there, there is no mention of Cecilia on any of these paths, and with Darla dying (I think) on most of the occasions against Gideon, Cecilia would be the most logical candidate as the wife mentioned below.

Countless years go by, where you find yourself alone and impoverished, for your Ghouls ran rampant within dependence and found ways to kill themselves off. Your wife's brittle hands attempt to hold you down, telling you not to engage the final monster, the last being still alive on this plane. "But no, my love, my time is for nothing if I don't challenge Him. If I am ruler of this Earth, what have I to fear?"

You assure your wife of your survival, and embrace the One outside.

Oh right, I remember that. I made sure to keep the ending vague so the reader could decide what ends up happening, whether you live long enough for the sun to grow to the point that it destroyed all life, maybe some sort of rebellion on the outside that killed you, or even a lack of prey at some point in the future-- basically, regardless of your control on things and your immortality, something was going to bring you down. It wasn't really age (though I maintain that Ghouls simply age much slower than humans while full-on Vampires barely age at all), so I may have meant that Cecilia's 'brittle' (funny adjective on my part) hands were caused by either lack of nutrition or just decay due to Ghoul-aging, maybe both. Still unsure.

Something to fix in the future though is that Cecilia should only last that long if you chose to ghoul her. Should edit that when I insert the Zealot path. Thanks for clarifying, man.
