Player Comments on How to Get the Girl

A fun concept but the endless series of broken links made me depressed. Clearly I'm out of touch with dating 2004 style :P

Spelling needs to be checked. It's really distracting when someone doesn't know how to use English language.

This isn't really a game and is dumb luck. It would be better to allow the reader to make informed choices and have multiple branches. This is either game over or continue.

Its ok i like romance and im a dude but theres only a couple that really stck out here but i hope you make more man.

My first impression of this story is that of Japenese dating sims. The basic plot was that you walk into a bar, see a bunch of different girls, and you try to hit on them and eventually "get" one.

As a starter, the writing wasn't the best work I've seen all day. The writing is bland, with no descriptivity. It doesn't describe the bar, the girls, or anything, really. It just tells you, not painting a clear image in the head. Also, the grammar is horrendously bad. This really needs to be proofread. As an example, here is a snippet from one of the passages: "You go to the bar and pick up 2 rums and coke's." As you can see, the punctuation was very bad, which was a reoccuring theme throughout this whole charade. Also, there were no quotation marks whenever a girl (or you) spoke, throughout the entire story.

I didn't particularly favorite the choices, either. You could only "get" one girl out of, like, six you spy in the bar. The whole "How to Get the Girl" part goes down the drain because of the random rejection here. (Spoiler Start!) For example, the girl in the corner is apparantly the 16-year old daughter of the bartender. Just how were you supposed to know that little bit of information, anyway? Plus, why did he bring his daughter in the first place? This also occurs with another girl, I think the redhead, where you have to guess her favorite music type. There is Rap, Pop, and Alternative. Just how am I supposed to know what type she likes? And lastly, the best example I think, the blonde playing pool beats you up because you don't have any "balls" to play with her. So random, really. (Spoiler End!)

It seems like this isn't really teaching/showing/telling game about "getting" a girl, more like a guessing game where you get rejected pretty randomly, for random reasons.

I give it a 5/8.

Well, it was okay, but like most of the dating games on this site about how to get a girl, it's just way too simple. I just think a story game about how to get a date should have options like "Ask her/him about their job" or "Ask him/her about their family" or something like that, not choices like "Offer to buy her a drink" or "Invite her back to your place". I do think most guys are smart enough to know that you don't introduce yourself to a girl by asking her for sex :p

It had a good amount of options. I found myself playing the game over and over again to see all that was possible and I found that all the endings were different, which is a good thing. What I didn't like was the lack of end game links on pages and no hints on what to do. What I mean is, don't make it where people have to guess to continue the story. Give them some help here and there.

this was interesting for 30+ seconds, maybe make a story about something not in general?

You might have bothered to add a reset link at the dead ends rather than letting them sit there and show the default reset link for you. Oh well.

The Go Backs were frustrating and I'd find a way somehow to fix the choice of who beats who at Halo. Clean it up.

Too many dead ends! Even though I got the red-head's phone number the first time through, that wasn't the end of the game. I had to reset and try again 5 or 6 times to get the only ending that allows comments and ratings.

This is totally unrealistic and ridiculous. The main problem is all the "dead ends" that don't seem to be dead ends. They just have no links.

Too many dead ends and random killings, too much stupidity (ending it because someone choose the ps2 over an xbox? go away you stupid fanboy), and a lot of paragraphs with no thought put into them

I'm such a ladies man. I won almost EVERY love and dating game first try. Not to brag. Good game. Best 'getting-a-girl' game so far.

Fun except for the dead links. Like the red head, I'm a sucker for a night of Halo on the X-Box. (Sometimes I kick my bf's ass too! Good tip guys, cause ultimately, he's the one that ends up scoring ;) )

I cheated using knowledge about the author but it was a twisted little chose your fate game. I'll have to remember the two winning combinations as ammo for later. Sure I'd lose, but I would put up a good fight.

I'm just glad that I like Redheads the best! But tea? Who the heck offers tea to a girl in a bar? That is so stupid.
