what's the acceptance level on fan fiction here?

Hey there
I'm new to the site and curious to know how well-recieved interactive fanfiction work is here. My first thought was AO3, but they don't support interactive stories, and after a brief look-around it seems as if this site has the best tools for writing interactive fiction, but I just want to know what the stance is on that sort of thing before I go diving in.
It would all completely normal videogame fanfiction, no warrior cats or furry porn shit. I mainly write about horror indie games, stuff like FNAF, Poppy Playtime, DDLC, and the like. I would also promise to take my work completely seriously, i.e. I would treat it like a proper horror story, and do my best to polish the story and make it good.
Have a nice day,
Thrumb

My general impression (people can correct me if I'm wrong) is that most fanfictions on this site are judged on their own merits as standalone stories. So if you write a good story, you'll get rated well.

The one pitfall is if your game relies heavily on knowledge of the original source. If it does, newcomers who play it and don't understand what's going on might rate it lower. More likely, they'll just not open it to begin with. So I'd recommend making it accessible to newcomers if possible.

Well, there is a category specifically for Fan Fiction, so if you're asking if Fan Fiction is allowed, then definitely. As for how well it's received, I'd say the majority of Fan Fiction games on the site are received pretty negatively, but that's because the majority of Fan Fiction games on the site are... Not very good, shall we say? There are a few hidden gems in there, but they're pretty few and far between.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a bit of a bias against Fan Fiction. I hear the words "Fan Fiction" and automatically assume that it's going to be crap, because the majority of Fan Fiction games I've played on this site have been. Fan Fiction seems to be the favourite genre among young, inexperienced writers who don't have the imagination to come up with creative worlds, plots or characters of their own. That said, I think that bias could work in your favour because the expectations when it comes to Fan Fiction on this site are pretty low. All you have to do is write something that isn't completely terrible, and people will be pleasantly surprised.

I think fluttershy was one of the fanfic authors everyone was pretty positive towards for awhile. But the dude is a factory robotically cranking out these paint by numbers games, all with the same basic structure and themes. And not really doing anything to address feedback. I think one day everybody just collectively got bored with him.

Of course, not ruling out some sudden dramatic development in his character arc where he becomes the hero the category needs.
