It's his most celebrated, but I don't know about his best. I think you could make pretty compelling arguments of LR or Yeezus (or even CD) just as well

I feel like Late Registration is what Kanye was trying to accomplish with The College Dropout. He finally had the budget for a proper, rich orchestration and it's awesome.

Yeah, I think LR's production is way better, but still find myself preferring CD.

They're both phenomenal albums and you should listen to them both.

Oh yeah, dude, I know. I love Kanye's stuff, even 808s which is like the black sheep of his discography (though that thankfully seems to be changing in the last few years).

Edit: Well, I guess I should change that to most of his stuff. Didn't care for The Life of Pablo at all. It's not a bad album, but I think it's his weakest to date (not including Watch The Throne).

What'd you think of 808s and MBDTF?

Also College Dropout or Late Registration? Which is better?

My top ten albums ever, in no particular order (highly, highly, HIGHLY recommended all of these).

Clarence Clarity - No Now (Glitch Pop)

Dirty Projectors - Bitte Orca (Art Pop)

J Dilla - Donuts (Instrumental Hip-Hop)

Mitski - Bury Me At Makeout Creek (Indie Rock)

Harlem - Hippies (Garage Rock)

The Ettes - Wicked Will (Garage Rock)

David Bowie - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust (Glam Rock)

Screaming Females - What If Someone Is Watching Their T.V.? (Hard Rock)

Lady Lamb The Beekeeper - Ripley Pine (Indie Folk / Rock)

Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense (Live Album)

Favorite 2016 albums (ordered from best to least this time, though):

Ty Segall - Emotional Mugger (Garage Rock)

Atlanter - Jewels of Crime (Progressive Pop)

Thao & The Get Down Stay Down - A Man Alive (Indie Pop)

Jeff Rosenstock - Worry (Pop Punk) (DO NOT write this off just because of the genre; it's legitimately great. Ton of bangers)

Zeal and Ardor - Devil Is Fine (Black Metal mixed with Spirituals)

Kate Jackson - British Road Movies (New Wave)

Xiu Xiu - Plays The Music of Twin Peaks (Dark Ambient with a bit of noise rock)

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - Nonagon Infinity (Psychadelic rock)

David Bowie - Blackstar (Art Rock)

Star Wars thread for normal people on 12/29/2016 1:15:57 AM

Best Star Wars movie since The Empire Strikes Back.

Only thing I wish they had changed is, instead of being killed by explosions (as most of them did), having them be killed directly by Vader at the end. Would have made it way more impactful.

Christmas Movies on 12/18/2016 1:07:13 AM

A Christmas Story is an absolute classic.

Recently, I would say Rare Exports.

We'll miss you, John. on 12/8/2016 6:57:05 PM

Greg Lake of King Crimson also died, yesterday, apparently.

This has to set some sort of record. Has there been a worse year regarding celebrity deaths?

EDIT: especially music icons

Rap Advice Part 2: Because I Hate Myself. on 12/5/2016 2:25:15 AM

Listen to as much hip-hop and rap as you can get your hands on. From the big names like Kanye, J Dilla, and Madlib to the middle of the road guys like clipping and MF Doom to the small names like Kill Bill. Specifically to find out what makes their music work.

Also, maybe look at shitty rap acts to see why people don't like them, and what they might have done wrong.
