Weird question, but it's something that's bothering the hell out of me.

With dialogue, are you suppose to put a space after the first quotation mark?

Ex: " Bla bla bla,"

Or with no space?

Ex: "Bla bla bla,"

It's such an insignificant choice but I go between the two often, which I think is a bad habit.

Which one is correct?

Au contraire, the dreaded quotation mark spacing has been the bane of many a great story, it's beauty having been marred by the horrid scar of inadequcy that screams to the readers that this author cares not for grammar.

Nope, unnecessary French is the only over dramatic part ;-)

Notice the use of the french word "Dramatique" instead of "Dramatic". It was unconscious. I'm scared....
