DSL/Broadband and Other Things

I'm not familiar with modems/broadband stuff. What's dsl?

DSL/Broadband and Other Things

dsl, is the same thing. DSL =

DSL or xDSL, is a family of technologies that provide digital data transmission over the wires of a local telephone network. DSL originally stood for Digital Subscriber Loop, although in recent years, many have adopted Digital Subscriber Line as a more marketing-friendly term for the most popular version of DSL, ADSL over UNE.

Typically, the download speed of DSL ranges from 128 kilobits per second (kbit/s) to 24,000 kbit/s depending on DSL technology and service level implemented. Upload speed is lower than download speed for Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) and equal to download speed for Symmetric Digital Subscriber Line (SDSL).

It's so obvious that you copy and pasted that.

DSL/Broadband and Other Things

I know, I wasnt trying to make it look like I didnt. I was going to give you my version of what it was, but that said it better. but the point is DSL and Broadband basically are the same thing.

DSL/Broadband and Other Things

Okay. I thought you meant DSL was the same as dial-up, and I thought JJJ was an idiot for a minute.

"I've got dial-up."
"Pfft. I've got DIAL UP!!"

Thanks for figuring that out.

BAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA

DSL/Broadband and Other Things

Broadband's way better.. I haven't used dial-up in three years or something.

DSL/Broadband and Other Things

they are coming out with advanced dial up thats almost as good too.

DSL/Broadband and Other Things

They had something about that on a commercial while I was watching the AFL. It's just broadband but more expensive.

DSL/Broadband and Other Things

Yea DoDo I think is the only place in Aus with the new Dial up at the moment. the probolem with Dial up is you pay not only for the net, but for a phone call, and often it ties up the phone line, unless you have 2 anyway. I have DSL it is so much better than Dial up.
Even the new dial up, isnt as good as broad band. it is better than normal dial up, thats all.

DSL/Broadband and Other Things

Ultimately, a waste of money.

DSL/Broadband and Other Things

Pretty much. The only reason I could see for choosing Dial up over broad band is, if you have a laptop or something, you can go on dial up from any phone line, so if you move around alot, or stay in hotels alot or something, it might be worth it.

DSL/Broadband and Other Things

Yeah, but you'd have to pay the hotel for internet access. Another waste of money. It would be useful to do it through satellites from anywhere. A built in modem to the computer and if you were in the middle of South America you could still access the internet.

DSL/Broadband and Other Things

Its actually a bit cheaper considering it includes land line rates, but its a bit inconveniant and a bit slower.

DSL/Broadband and Other Things

Depends where you were doing it. If it was somewhere where money cost more, then it would be a waste. If money was worth a heap less, then by all means do it. But who the hell would do it in a hotel. Everything costs twenty dollars more than it should in places like that. Seriously, a soft drink, for example, would cost about fifteen dollars.

lol, I laugh at your halarity (sp?).

DSL/Broadband and Other Things

I would go look this up in a dictionary but I don't know about the spelling so what does halarity mean?

DSL/Broadband and Other Things

It means ur hilarious. Duh.

DSL/Broadband and Other Things

Oh.. you meant hilarity. I've got you.

DSL/Broadband and Other Things

Havvy hasn't got us for spam yet - I think saying that one line will become a new sort of craze, until Havacoman actually starts to get annoyed about us spamming through saying that line.

DSL/Broadband and Other Things

stupid question what does (sp?) mean ?

DSL/Broadband and Other Things

(sp?) I'm taking a wild guess like I have been, but I'm pretty adamant that it means that they're unsure of spelling. He doesn't know how to spell hilarity so he puts (sp?) at the end there in case somebody thinks it's actually a new word.

DSL/Broadband and Other Things

I thought maybe. just checking... I would use that, but half the words i type would need it.

DSL/Broadband and Other Things

Then (sp?) just (sp?) type (sp?) like (sp?) this (sp?). Actually, don't do that. I'd rather you just mispelled the words in the first place.

DSL/Broadband and Other Things

hey... I dont miss spell then! or just... nor type, like or this! actually is a tricky one! lol. If I think i have spelt something badly enough that you may not comprahend, or that it may take some thinking to work out ill put it there., or if i just think it looks way too wrong.

DSL/Broadband and Other Things

Hmm. There's about ten spelling/grammar mistakes in that. I didn't count them, but I know there was at least ten.

DSL/Broadband and Other Things

I know I am a bad speller. you dont need to rub it in.
If im writing a story or something important I make sure it is correct, or at least mostly.
If i did that with posts it would take me so long to do it, I would not bother posting. it is still readable.

DSL/Broadband and Other Things

Yeah, it's readable. It just takes longer to understand, but I suppose we can all live with one bad speller.

DSL/Broadband and Other Things

It’s ok. I have been ridiculed enough. I'll stop posting. Save people the trouble.

DSL/Broadband and Other Things

I hate broadband with limited downloads. Unlimited is way better.

DSL/Broadband and Other Things

Scrap my last, im over it. Yea unlimited is great. I have unlimited.

DSL/Broadband and Other Things

I'm not sure how many kb's this site takes up a day.. it's probably a good thing I'm not sure as well.

DSL/Broadband and Other Things

I agree, with all the storys, keeping trac of points. all the pictures etc... would have to be a fair bit.

DSL/Broadband and Other Things

Exactly what I meant by what I said. It must take up a lot of space though. I'm no wiz at computers, but I'm taking a guess at the amount I use it, it would take up about 15 to 20 mb's a day?
