My god I've spent the last hour just reading old posts on "Newbie Central" it's fantastic. If you want to get a vibe of the community I'd suggest just clicking the "older threads' button a few times then choosing a few. But besides that, I've been loving all the stories and the games on this website :P. It has been an amazing filler of time for when I'm in classes and bored.
