Story of the Gods

This is just something I came up with, feel free to read it if you wish!

There was once the beautiful world, Eles with dozens of species, each with it's own god or deity, each with it's own power and while the gods didn't get along very well, their squabbles did not erupt to fighting and the world in turn was only subjected to minor skirmishes that often ended with little to no casualties

However, in front of the Council of the Gods appeared a faceless being, who bowed down before the gods and asked one simple question:

"I have a message for the greatest god in here, who is that god if I may ask?" he asked as of knowing the disaster the question would bring.

And with that each god claimed that he or she was best and what started as an argument erupted into shouting and cursing, breaking the Council apart. The only god who stood back was a god with the aspect of a child, his name was Epis, the god of games and laughter, a oft forgotten god by the mortals, because he was one of the few gods that did not have a species of their own.

After the shouting and arguing, the gods descended down on Eles, gathered five representatives each species to tell them who was greatest, however that did little to calm the conflict as each species voted with their patron god. That unknowingly made the species involved in a world-destructive conflict.

The representatives went back and told their people how the other species had insulted their god and that they should be punished for the insult they had addressed.

In mere days, Eles was plunged into a world wide conflict with tens of thousands dying each day. The gods weren't any different, they too started to fight and kill each other with a god dying daily.

Epis was the only one who stood by and watched as death covered both the gods and their created species. Worried that Eles would be destroyed and all it's vast forms of life would die, he showed himself to a few individuals of each species and took them away, sealing them in his dimension until it would be safe to come out again.

After a few months of grueling fighting, Eles fell silent, the only thing heard were the wind passing through the empty cities that were once filled with life, and sea crashing down on the shipwrecks that were once proud vessels.

The only god remaining besides Epis was Arthatros, the god War and Slaughter, however he too was to die, for his last opponent was Dolis the Poison God. His heart started to beat slower by the second. Epis appeared before Arthatros, with a look of disgust on his face he said:

"You, o so great gods have succumbed to petty things that your creatures should have worried, instead you took it to heart and sought to prove that you were greatest by killing everyone else, yet now poison is coursing through your veins and you'll die because of your hubris." Epis explained. "However, my world will be a beautiful one, where people will only decide their fate by playing games and having fun."

However as Epis was talking to the dying god, the faceless being appeared again behind Epis and put a hand on his shoulder, then said in a proud tone:

"Great job, Epis ,you truly are the greatest god!" he said with a tone that sent chills through Epis's body, the faceless being, sprouting a large mouth filled with fangs, suddenly grinned.

And done, what do you think? It isn't part of any story(though I might make it part of one) or anything, just something I wrote for fun.

Worried that Eles would be destroyed and all it's vast forms of life would die, he showed himself to a few individuals of each species and took them away, sealing them in his dimension until it would be safe to come out again. (note: doesn't seem to match Epis' character)

I edited your post to improve readability and give it a more "professional" look. I did miss a few things, though.

Oh, ok then, thanks!

What's your opinion about it?

Story of the Gods

It seems unlikely that a god of games and laughter would be so worried about the necessity preserving all those species.

Edit: Wow. Looking back, I suck at proofreading.

Well, if there isn't anyone to play games or laugh, his purpose is lost. Plus, I thought the ending would hint at his fate... :P

I didn't pick up on that.

The faceless being will eat him... hence he sprouted fangs.

It could've just been an expression of his inner evil. I thought the faceless being would end up trying to make some sort of deal with Epis. Like, "The other gods wouldn't allow you to have your own species to play with, but now you have several, thanks to me. I would greatly appreciate it if you repaid the favor, though."

Hmm, haven't thought of that actually... yep this is a better ending than mine. Let's go with that!

Right, all of the species will die as they keep to fight blindly as only a faceless being watches the fun... that just gave an RP idea...
