Hi, I'm StoryTurtle. I have been sitting here, unproductive, for 5 years. Hooray.

Once upon a time, there was a young woman. She put a boy in a peach.

Based on the Japanese folklore Momotaro. Entry to MHD's Fantastical Fairytales Contest.

The Penguin Without Feet

Entry to 2023 Spring/Summer Contest: Gone Fishin'

For the Dive Dealer Penguins, diving for fish was always the norm. Chicks were taught the basics of diving and catching fish, even long before their feathers have matured and allowed them to touch the water. And it was a successful survival strategy, too - this way the penguins were always self-sufficient, hardly ever running out of food. Then contests appeared, pushing the penguins to try whoever could catch more fish in a single dive... every day was a fish festival.

Until one day, you were born. A chick without feet. Society, if it existed, panicked. A penguin unable to dive! A penguin unable to catch fish! Outrageous! What will one do? What will you do?

One ending, but different ways to reach it. Have fun, and welcome to the penguin world!

Where the Clouds Want to Go

In Candyland, gumdrops line the roof trimmings of gingerbread houses, and cotton candy clouds provide residents shade from the sun. Boys picked chocolates out of the ground, and girls bought candied apples carved into the shapes of dolls.

But Candyland is not as sweet as it looks. A limiting job assignment system has made many of its citizens miserable, and it is up to the daring and the young to change it all.

Entry to EndMaster's 3rd Prompt Contest. Prompt is 2) A story involving a peaceful day in the park.

(PS: What would you want to do for your job if you were a Candyland citizen? There are 13 endings. Is one of them about the job you want to get?)

Both descriptions have similar content. The second description is wordier. However, I don't feel like I knew any more about the character from the second description than the first. Therefore, the first description would be better.

The whole book is literally just stories tunneling into each other

The only thing I like about this is the charity thing. Everything else is just how they have been for the last 10 years.

Prompt Contest 3 Results on 4/3/2024 12:08:36 AM

I think the most valuable part of a contest, aside from being able to push yourself to finish a storygame by a deadline, is that you get more feedback on your story. A contest not only lets the judge give comments but also attracts attention to the entries from other readers on the site.

An important thing to remember is that how much someone likes the story doesn't define how good a story is. Everyone might have different tastes, after all! What one can do to improve is to evaluate what was done well and what was not with the help of readers' comments, and then make sure to keep the findings in mind while writing the next work.

I'm really interested in reading more stories at the moment. Writing requires inspiration, and until I have enough for entering my next contest, I'm going to be diving into the various portals in CYStia!

Oh it hurts me so to think of a good idea but it can only be used in one branch ToT

Also my prompt is "A story involving a peaceful day in the park."

Would it work if the peaceful day in the park only appears on one page where not all readers might see it if they don't read every page?
