Player Comments on Rise of Vollund II: Koregian
I liked it. It had a dungeon crawl vibe to it I enjoyed it even if the description was lacking and the plot had some gaps in it. It vaguely reminds me of Delve which is one of my favorite games on the site.
That being said this game is not nearly as scripted as Delve is and can be beaten fairly quickly if you know what you are doing. That being said there are some issues with the game itself. First off, the plot gaps make the story's journey nonsensical. Why am I in Shadowfall? Why is Targro one of the MC's best friends with me for like two pages and that's it? These questions will likely not be resolved since this game is old as all get out.
I feel like the combat system could've used some work. Sometimes it wouldn't let me use my sword to attack ad I had to use a spell. Then I had to unlearn spells for a certain portion of the game and got a blacksmith's hammer and a tome that could summon undead which was a sudden shift from the fireball ad root spells I was using. I thought I was some kind of spellslinger, fighter then I become this necromantic blacksmith.
So besides the odd scripting, the lack of description also kills the story. I get that you were going for a puzzle/dungeon type deal but sometimes it's not very clear the direction needed to go. Also, the death screen is always the same. You went mad and died or you got killed. I'm probably overanalyzing this but my suggestions if the author were to ever come back to this would be to clean up the combat system and add a little more plot to it.
Overall, I ended up having more questions than answers, but the combat system while simplistic was somewhat enjoyable. However, I can see where people might be confused about how to beat the game and some parts were unnecessary and could be skipped. Not needing all the items or needing to go to all the different links you provided is frustrating for a reader.

I can see why the rating is 3/8, but I think that's just because people couldn't get past Maze 1.
This storygame can certainly be improved. The game elements were surprisingly good, though the mechanics of how a battle went could've been better.
It actually required a bit of problem-solving and riddle-solving at one point which had confused me for a moment but I understood after reading the hints in the text.
The script-like dialogue style and the lack of description and background was troubling. Again, while the game elements are well done, this storygame lacks good story elements like plot, description, background, etc.
The ending was really weird, as it wasn't a good enough cliffhanger/regular ending for a "part of a series". It ended abruptly, which confused me, not made me want to read further.
Overall, it's an okay game, but bad story.

Okay, first of all, it was better then your first game. However, the faults of the first game are being overlooked. In order for the player to get engaged into the story, s/he needs a character to like, reason to fight, and a goal (other then kill everything you can)
Now for some basic errors:
II saw many instances in which you allow the player to turn back, but it accomplishes nothing, since you can never return more then a page or two back.. Also, make sure you don't force the player into using the "go back" button. It's there for mistakes, but make sure you give an option to return if you didn't bring the key, for instance.
It wasn't horrible, and it is certantly an improvement from the first game, but it gets a 3/8 simply because it wasn't "fun" yet. The game looks promising though!

Lots of item use, Though there is not a lot of plot around, it's very charming in a wandering hack-and-slash adventure kind of way.

Welll that was surprising. Lost all my marvelous weapons, unlearn magic, with only a black hammer that can't be used as a weapon and a book of the dead... meh...

The fighting mechanics were kinda fun, but I was restricted from using my sword on a couple of pages. Also the combat is really the only good thing about this game. The story is nothing special really, and it would've been cooler if there were different kinds of things you could fight besides witches.
3/8

Better with the advanced editor and the story was better as well. I still gave you a low score however because you still give us the awser to most of the problum, just flat out. You just follow the sujested path and you win. You also just kinda lose heath at times outside of combat and you max heath starts at 120 and then falls to 100 after leveling up. But good job on making the story better and working in chapters, would still like to see more choices. The end when your fighting the troll bandits wether you click the book or hammer it takes you to the same screen. Keep trying, can't wait for the final part.

While this story was better explained than the last one, it still glosses over what should be some very important discoveries. Like the fact that (SPOILERS) you're the son of whatever-his-name was. You should definitely expand on the character's reaction to that. Still, it's a good read most of the time!

Some sentences had no logic, nor a reason to be put in at all. Although this was a test game, at least try to put more paths and details.

It seemed a bit smoother this time (and I liked the Item pics). I really can't tell what you should do with it next though - that's sort of up to you.

It's a good start and surprisingly long considering that it's a just a demo. I'd recommend trying to add greater detail to the pages themselves and plug more of the weapon items into the game (for example, Fireball would have been nice to use against the Bandits). If you finish it, I’ll read it again and rate it higher :)
