This one has comedy, it has action, wit, and attitude. This story caught me by surprise. I was ready to like this right away. It didn’t disappoint, but it never surprised either. This is a tale of a canny gunfighter who wanders into town, stirs up every manner of latent trouble that said town has to offer, and finally wanders off into the sunset after a relaxing bloodbath. If you’ve ever watched an old western, you know the town and characters. This is a fine iteration.
Description of action and witty dialogue are the greatest strengths of the story. I like that, because those are difficult for many people. The editing is another strength. I have many times given the advice in my reviews for people to read their story out loud before publishing it. I could believe this writer did. This story rolls off the tongue, all natural like.
The narrative lacks depth. Fans of the genre aren’t in for any good surprises. The characters are straightforward. We know little about their motivations or anything that might qualify as characterization in general. If the story was any longer than it is, this would be more of an issue. As it stands, this is a fun and action oriented romp with style. I certainly recommend it.

Ranger is certainly a story that begins with an intriguing concept, then it starts the reader off with an entertaining start when it begins, and that entertainment never tapers off. No, the writing is just so memorable, snappy, witty, that even thinking back on certain scenes leaves me feeling a sense of 'hype'.
My favorite scene is the ranger entering a duel with multiple gunslingers, fully expecting to be among the caskets he tells a mortician to prepare. I think that perfectly encapsulates the character, they're a badass that's not to be taken lightly. However, they are aware of their own morality, and even if a reader doesn’t take the most honorable route of making sure everyone is good and ready before drawing their guns, it’s implied that he's still a hell of a lot more honorable than others with his title in this story.
The ranger. He's basically a dreaded with the license to kill if he so wants. And there's killing, but from the two paths I've played, the people that are being killed really seemed to ask for it.
I have to say Tim, this is wonderful work. As someone whose played Red Dead 2, your character was quite Arthur Morgan-esque to me, and yes, that is major compliments from me since I find that character to be very likable and cool.
Basically, this story-game is the epitome of cool. Fast snappy dialogue, that is as fast as the trigger finger on the ranger’s when it is time for a life or death duel.
Good work.

“There was forty feet between them when they stopped, to make their play. And the swiftness of the ranger is still talked about today.
Texas Red had not cleared leather fore’ a bullet fairly ripped, and the rangers aim was deadly with, the big iron on his hip.
It was over in a moment and the folks had gathered ‘round, there before them lay the body of the outlaw on the ground. Oh he might went on living, but he made one fatal slip, when he tried to match the ranger with, the big iron on hip.”
I recognize the story from the song “Big Iron” by Marty Robbins.
Good story, please and thank you!

Wow, Excellent!
This story is really amazing, and captures the essence of the quintessential classic western gunfighter. The writing created the atmosphere of the old west, and held up throughout the entire narrative.
I felt that the characterization was adequate for the story. We understand that Ranger is a gunfighter who is very confident while also aware of his limitations. I thought the dialogue was smooth and that his interactions seemed logical and natural.
Also, I found that this story, instead of being built around some major quest or task, was a small glimpse into the Ranger's life and his adventure was more by accident than design.
Overall, excellent story and one to definitely recommend.

Very entertaining, I liked how you managed to capture the psychopathic personality of Buster Scruggs and added more to it.

This was truly an incredible experience. I know the author claims it is unfinished, but I thought it was pretty complete myself. I did not go through the alcohol path past clicking on it to see the "you just got beaned" image.
There were a couple of references I'm not sure whether they were intentional. "I'm something of a ranger myself" as an example. Wretched hive of scum and villainy was an obvious one.
But the one I'm most amazed by far, and disappointed how long it took me to realize it, was red Tex. I only understood it when he showed up with 20 ranger badges.
Twenty one would be the ranger with a big iron on his hip... Or not, cause in one of the endings he already has 21 on him. Not sure whether you made the mistake or I'm confused.
Either way, amazing story. I've not much negative to say.
