Player Comments on The Happiness Game

I'll consider writing a longer review later, but I really enjoyed this. This is a fun and wholesome school based game. Don't expect any grand depth, there isn't any to find, but as for me, it did call to mind half remembered thoughts and feelings from childhood, which at my age is always nice.

The game coaches you on positive self-talk and not to catastrophize situations. If interpersonal communication skills strongly influence the health of one's interpersonal relationships, naturally, than healthy intrapersonal communication goes a long way towards a healthy frame of mind. I think many people neglect this, and that's a shame.

This storygame makes some of those concepts a little more accessible. I only played through once and very quickly, so I don't know if these ideas are heavily represented in all the branches, or how much the game really branches. Clearly some editing mistakes were made because some of the links didn't go where they were supposed to, as I think someone already pointed out.

The characters aren't especially well developed, but that's okay due to the length of the story. I think we can insert people we remember into their places just as well and that's possibly more potent. Word choice is effective here for establishing tone, and for evoking memories. This story definitely has positivity and gratitude all over it.

This was fairly simple and straight-forward. Not too much happens, but it put me in a good mood, so I don't think it's fair to criticise it too harshly. Read this with an open mind and not expecting too much, and you will come away happy.

It was fun playing a student and I like how it was a name that could be either a boy or girl

I must have missed something at one point because I would have helped people if I could along the way

Impressive balancing act of taking a school based game, and an educational game, and making it work as a story. Nothing too exciting happened, it was just a normal school day, but the writing was straightforward and approachable and made this very easy to read.

This is a very cute game for kids. I like how the choices that made others happy made you happy as well. The pictures were also nice and would probably help kids stay engaged.

This was very enjoyable, quite a nice and not particularly challenging feel-good well-written story-game, good work :)

Pretty good effort, I liked it more than expected.

There were couple of minor errors, I think the links are pointed wrong on the page that lets you climb on the table and the one about taking a photo, but nothing that got in the way of the game overall.

I understand the point of that one reviewer, it's difficult to measure something like "happiness" objectively when everyone enjoys different things. I definitely would've been the kid sneaking off to read a book instead of playing on a team at the gym for instance. But of course we're not really playing ourselves here, but Alex Tan who we can assume is that rare extrovert who still finds time to stop and have empathy for others. I did like the focus the game had on noticing and appreciating the hard work of others besides just the teachers and students in a school environment.

I am an introvert and would never purposefully engage anyone in conversation. None of the options allowed me to isolate myself, and some forced me to do things I would never do, like listen to music.

Very reflective and practical game. The points have been so well planned that everyone can surely relate to at least a few situations mentioned in the game. I would love to play it again and again. Thanks
