Making a double-sided stat

I'm not using this in my current storygame, but I do have small plans for one after the current one.

The idea is that a stat is on a sliding scale of either/or, with two, opposite ends. The closer you are to one end, the farther away you are from the other. Sometimes, having it be high is useful, sometimes, low is better. The two sides aren't as diametric as good/bad. To cite a few (hypothetical) examples.

Chivalrous/Flirty

Charming/Stoic

Brutal/Finesse

Impulsive/Calculative

Could a stat working like this work, and if so, how would it be done?

All you need is a variable for each pair and have a script check for how high or low they are whenever it's relevant to the plot.

Take a little time to read the articles on scripting, it's a simple systems with a lot of flexibility and once you get the basics down you can use them for 90% of anything you can think to do.
