Thanks for your encouragement guys!

Thanks Mizal! Yes, considering a true-to-life historical story would take so much research to do justice to those who went through it. Hats-off to anyone who can do that.

I think what makes fantasy (and sci-fi) so appealing to me comes from the pure, exaggerated concepts threading through the characters' behaviours and motivations, even through to their appearance. What's interesting to me is how characters go about living their ordinary lives, in amongst the squabbles of narcissists whose ideals are at odds with one-another.

Hi all,

What a cool site! What brings me here is to share some ideas with many sharp and creative (and honest) minds, so maybe some of your genius will rub off on me. I know you'll prove me right!

I have a particular goal in mind; to tell a complete branching narrative only via the medium of letter-writing between a mother and her (adult) child. This will include a breadth and depth of knowledge regarding cultural background, geography, different races and traits of those races, and the individual struggle of a family through political turmoil. Oh, and all within a fictional fantasy setting. Too ambitious?

I can share some of my initial world-building ideas if anyone's interested. See how many fantasy chichés you can find.

In the future, I'd like to create a tabletop multiplayer game where all the game elements progress through sending letters to your neighbours, thus influencing their characters' progress and choices. The pages of these letters will be on pre-written cards. The shared goal is for the characters to find each other again before the war that they're caught up in claims their lives.
