Choice Tree

So im writing a storygame (http://chooseyourstory.com/story/sentience~3a-the-awakening) and in the middle of writing i have this problem, i branched it too much and now i´ve lost track of the whole choice tree, because the story does nto have a main plot but it is more event-based it can go through vastly different storylines (i know it is ambitious but i can´t help it), i want to know if there is such a feature like a "overall" tree of choices of all the branches i created.

Thanks.

No, but someone did recommend such a figure once. It was shot down because a choice tree would be...well...huge for most games. And, that's not even considering scripting.

But being huge is the very motive such feature would be extremely useful, how i am supposed to keep track of all the different branches? have you any suggestions or personal experiences on it?

Really, aside from writing out a story tree yourself, I don't know what to do.

I dreaded you´d say that, more work on my already tight schedule, but alas, if it is what must be done, then that´s it. Thanks.

Sorry, I don't want to make things hard on you. You might try incorporated BZ's method of labeling the pages and changing them after you get all the pages and links worked out.

One thing that might help, is to label your page titles in such a way as to help you recognize where they are in the story - then to rename them once you are completely done with them.

Without going through the hassle of creating a choice tree, you can just use notes on another document to keep track of your story.

Write down all your major events and when they're supposed to take place in the story. Add new ones (or delete discarded ideas) when necessary.

Keep track of all the choices you aren't currently writing about in your notes, delete them whenever you get back to them. Also mark the choice you haven't gotten to yet with an asterisk in the actual text and then delete the asterisk when you finally get around to writing for that choice.

It's a simple way of keeping track of which choices you have and haven't worked on.

Thanks for helping me again with helpful advice.

I think i will do a hybrid of you guys ideas to adapt it to my creating style.

One thing: why should i do this asterisk thing if in the advanced editor i know what choices i have written, it has some purpose of later on the process it will get more confusing? there is a reason to do that?

The idea is you make the choices up front then go back and fill them in later. If an astrtick is there you know you havent done that choice yet.
