Numbers instead of mouse.

On the game player how bout isntead of having to click the links, why not be able to press 1 to get the first link, etc.  Conveniance thing.  Also you coul;d do both of course.

Hmmm....  Good idea but it would collide with the name thing.

Actually, there is a really big flaw if we were to do this. You wouldnt be able to have more than 9 (Or ten if 0 counted.) links. Because there would be no way to tell if the players were entering 1 or if they were part way to entering 11.

use another combo, like the key "a" substitues 10, "b" 20,  eg. you type x1 it willg ive you 11, x will give you 10 etc.

Wouldn't that start to get a bit complicated? (not to mention different people would probably ask for different combo keys) Isn't it easier to just click with the mouse?

yes, it is complicated, and yes a mouse is easier, im just suggesting to the suggestion :P

Browsers have a built-in thing called "Access Keys." They're used to make browsing and navigatino more easy if you don't have a mouse or are disabled.

I may add an access key for each link, starting at 0 and ending at Z. I think you would just do like ALT-3 and it would click on the link. I dunno, I'll give it a shot.

Would it make a difference? I mean, you have to read it anyways, and you may as well just use your mouse to click on the links. It'll also be a limited amount of links* if you have Access Keys. If you're saying it'll help if your mouse is broken, then how are you going to get into the game in the first place?

* Is there a limit on links?

No, but most people have a mouse anyways. They can use Access keys if they are bored I quess.

Someone made a Interactive fiction maker on Dailyklik (however it is spelled) and people complained about having to hit no. 1-9 rather than just clicking on the choices (you could you your mouse in the game for everything but choosing choices, ouch). So people would rather use a mouse. I would to.

im up for putting the links in the text field, ie The Door was open. where Door would be a link instead of having to look at the choices at the bottom. however, im not up for numbers really. sorry. :(

Hmm, that would be a nice idea. However I am fine with how it is now.

Yeah, I reckon the access keys shouldn't be allowed to be the only way to choose options. You should always be able to use the mouse.
