Drop down menus

ok, here is my idea. I think Leon was hitting on somehting with this so im going to suggest it. Leon was looking into what he called Parsers i believe. in these type of stories you have a main list of commands, Take, Move, Push, Open, and so forth. what i want to see is a list of Parser links that we can add to the bottom of the page. then when you click on say, Open, it does NOT take you to a new page, but instead brings a drop down menu specifically for that page. that way, if you click on Open when you are in your car you will get a drop down menu with a list like Driver Side Door, Trunk, Hood and so forth. If you are in your house you would get a drop down menu like this: Bedroom door, Drawer, Fridge. please let me know if you get or dont get this.

I think I get it. So if you choose Exit house then the menu would drop down that says Back Door, Side Door, and Front Door and you would choose which one you want to do?

exactly. the purpose being, when you click a link it wont open a new window. that is until youve reached your final choice.

currently it looks like this

TEXT FIELD

choice 1: Go outside using front door

choice 2: go outside using side door

choice 3: go outside using back door

choice 4: blow hole in wall and exit.

The new way would look like this

TEXT FIELD

Exit
        By Front Door
        By Back Door
        By Side Door
        By hole you make

the point being, you will stay on the same page after you click on Exit, which will bring a drop down menu of the choices in orange. all this happening on the same page. that way you save pages, and time.

Sounds like a good idea to me. Now you jusdt gotta wait a year and a half for it to be accepted.

You could use scripting, although I don't think you would like it that much.

$DEST := @NONE
%VARIABLE := 1

Not sure about the @NONE part, but this is for the first links. And on the other ones: Go to variable restrictions and only viewable if the variable is on one. Of course, this might cause refreshing.

Of course, that might refresh the page, so I'm not sure if it'll work...  I don't see a need for this though. You could make it if you click on a link it can take you to another page of options using the $DEST variable, there's something in Advanced Editor Forum about that.

I'd rather do the drop down menu, it sounds a lot simpler.

Yeah, that would work well for parser games. It would work well.
