Ok so I was looking at the Marvel vs. DC post and my friend reminded me of a childhood hero and why there isn't a movie of him; Static Shock.

The animated television show was canceled in 2004 due to poor merchandise sales. I believe the DC character he is based on, Static, still appears in comics. In other words, he's still around, but he hasn't proven himself to be marketable enough to garner interest for a movie.

Well damn. Think I could still find the episodes somewhere?

I'm sure some place on the internet has them. If not, you could probably still buy them.

His name isn't actually Static Shock, it's just Static.  Static Shock is specifically the animated series.  A live-action version of Static Shock starring Jaden Smith was rumored to be in production, but that was a while ago.

Currently (New 52) Static is an infrequently seen member of Teen Titans.

 

With jaden Smith i can see why the rumors got hushed down.
