Someone called my house while my Mom was out. I didn't pick up the first time, but then it rang again so I picked up. It was some guy doing an investigation or something, no other details. Apparently someone put me down as a contact, someone I don't even know at all. I told him I didn't know this woman at all and he said sorry for the call.

Just a bit curious if this happens often? I was a bit creeped out by it.

this could be a number of things. someone could simply be pranking you, it could be someone trying to scam you. it doesnt exactly happen 'often' but its nothing new really.

Either a prank or mistake.

Or it could be like what happened to me once, someone gave a creeper a random phone number to avoid giving their actual number to this person. That phone number happened to be yours.

At the office I work at, also, we get calls sometimes from debt collectors looking for people who claimed to work/worked there but had never been employed by the company. 

Basically, desperate people lie to other people to seem legit.
